I'm going to side with GT on this one, and the other guys running without a PVR setup. I have been the one beating the dead horse on this topic. From all of the info I have collected on this topic, including a plumber that I have pestered way too much, that a gate valve early in the system and a pressure gauge are your best bet. More control, and the gauge makes it easy to set your pressure. On the side note, it is a third of the price of a PVR, and easy to replace as plumbing shops carry all of the parts you need.

Lol, it is, but I am sure there are a few other Canucks on here other than me. When you need advice on something like a jet boat, you go to the ppl that live the life. SoCal Jet Boats has been my go to place for advice and help through my whole project. I've tried a few other sites, Canadian ones, but most of the guys there find out I am a noob and start being douches.

Here you go, Steve.
I am using the hinges that came on the boat, which had three different hatches on it and looked like crap. I prefer the single piece hatch. I am using the same style of latches that are used on tool boxes, retail at surplus tool places for about $15 each, with some custom made catches inside. I will send pics of those when I get them finished. Lol. In the meantime, I am using some gas/hydraulic lift shocks to hold it up/down. I have them set up so that they are offset to push the hatch attachment points back while the hatch is closed, to give it some downward pressure. Hope this helps.

As stupid as it sounds, you could replace the ball valve with a 3/4" gate valve and a tie wrap and be good to go. It gives you pressure control and limited temperature adjustment with a $20 valve.
The pressure relief is not bulletproof and does the same basic job but costs 5 times more.
I would rather see you invest in a pressure gauge and a gate valve. Money better spent, in my personal honest opinion.
The gauge just has to be installed in such a place it can be seen temporarily, not on the dash.

I bought a used impeller, and while it is an "A", and does fit, sorta...
It doesn't allow the bowl to go on, holding it out by a half inch. Will machining off a half inch from the bowl side make it work?

I agree with GT. My hull was rated for 100 mph, and I plan to use it for cruising and tubing, so my 460 is more than enough to do what I want it too.
And I love the sound of it. Lol. I would post a video of it running if I could.

To "foo foo"? I may as well give up my man card too. Lol. I am using stainless clamps, very small stainless screws, and a skinny teenage son to install mine. And now matter how old we get, the boat helps us feel young. And ZZ Top never goes out of style.

Actually, GT, I have read a lot about it tonight, and after reading what you wrote, it all makes sense to me now. Since I used to be a car guy and now have a jet boat, lol, I seem to have had my brain stuck on gears. As in transmission. I keep forgetting that things are "simpler" with a jet drive, no transmission. I will start the hunt for a mechanical advance distributor. Thank you very much for the clarification.
