Can I ask where the saddle tanks were from and what they run you?
Never noticed that you had asked me this...sorry about that...unfortunately I just sold the boat first off and second I'm pretty sure those tanks were in mine for a long long time if not from day one. Never any signs of a bow tank ever existing on it.

Thanks.  You wouldn't happen to have any pics or info from those tanks would you?  I'd love to see how they were set up.   Were they behind the seat upholstery, or were they all the way back, next to the engine against the side of the hull?  Without putting a tape on it, I'd say there is 3 to 4 feet of length between the transom and where the interior starts for the rear seats.  Since I've never had saddle/gunwale tanks, I'm not sure where the correct placement of them should be??? 

All the way back against the transom or mid-ship behind the interior?

I can see saddle/gunwale tanks completely changing the handling of this boat.  With a full tank of gas up in the bow, you know it and slow down for big wakes.  Did your boat still feel planted in the water without all that extra weight up front?

Been using them for years,  cheap, ready made,  covered by NMMA, USCG and UL.

I looked more into the Moeller plastic tank for it's simplicity.  Unfortunately, the bow tank is 12" tall, and I don't think it will fit under the bow since the existing tank is 10" tall and was a snug fit with the reinforcement ribs on the bottom side of the deck.  Is there any other plastic tank mfg, or perhaps another tank from Moeller that I could have missed?

Do you have this tank still?  My dad will be driving right by Pacoima tomorrow morning on the 5 fwy and he may be able to stop by and compare to my tank if you're available.  Please let me know, or PM me a # to reach you at.  I only have about 11" of height available under the deck for a tank.  My existing tank is roughly 10" tall.

Ok, Pacoima is just too far of a drive on a gamble.  I have no idea if your "pie shape" tank will work under my deck or not.  Pies can be tall, short, wide, low, long, skinny, tiny or huge.  If you come up with the time to get more info on it and want to sell, I'll keep my eyes peeled for replies.  Thank you.

The tank in my 1975 Wriedt Maverick also started coming apart from the inside. Then the next thing I know it started leaking inside the boat. Just letting you know that's  probably  next. I ended up going with saddle tanks.

I picked up a pair of saddle tanks, but they're too wide to fit between the inside of the hull and the seats/interior.

Still have this tank?  Where is it located and would you happen to have a picture and/or dimensions of it?  Thank you.

I will get some pics tomorrow when I get back to my shop. If memory serves me well, the tank I have is from the identical boat, a wreidt Maverick.

Someone changed it to this aluminum tank shortly before imparted out the boat.

Here's the Brown Beaver, 1975 original.  Yes that is brown metal flake.   

I'd prefer to keep the tank where it was built.  I understand the downfalls of bow tank vs. saddle tanks.  With saddle tanks, I have to drill 2 holes in the gunnels for fillers.  Also have to plumb a tank equalizer setup so it pulls from both tanks equally.  Possibly second sending unit.   Then what do I do with the filler that is in the center of the bow.  I thought about it, but keeping it where it was is easier and the least disturbing to the old brown beaver.


I know this is a wanted ad, but to those of you that have converted already......is the tank a separate piece that is glassed in place under the bow?  Can I cut the tank loose from the hull bottom/stringers or is it an integral part of the hull and under bow?  I haven't even got under there yet.

Does today's fuel eat at the resin?  I ask because the fuel that is going to the carb pretty much always looks like iced tea and there is shiny, hard residue in the intake manifold under the carb.  I suspect it's the resin used in the tank?
