Lake pleasant is a pretty good size lake about an hour south in North Phx area.
Roosevelt is about 2 or 3 hours east.
There is Bartlett and Canyon not too bad of a drive either.
I frequent lake pleasant as its only an hour away.  I think there are 3 launch ramps, two marinas, just choppy by afternoon.  Definitely worth a trip

Although for a cruiser sometimes it is nice having an open bow, plenty of room for gear and coolers and maybe even a deck over the motor.  Depends what you want to do with it?

So here's the new boat. 1980 Hondo 18'. Pretty stock 454 (.030 over), dominator pump (set back 5.5") ,ride plate, droop and diverter. It's got some fine cracking in the gel coat on the deck, other than that, it's pretty much flawless. Looking forward to taking it out. Probably going to hit up the green drink on Sunday for a little shakedown before hauling her all of the way to the river.

Can someone school me a little bit on spectras. I'm looking at an 18 for sale and want to know how they ride. Are they well built boats. How do they handle decent power. What should I look for if I go and check it out. It seems pretty clean. All original for 3500 with a 455. Not bad I think. Any info on them would be much appreciated. Thanks

thanks for the input guys. I got a few trips planned for the boat this month (lake and lower river) and gonna run my set up as is until i get all my new parts and hoses in. maybe it'll grow on me or maybe ill have a used tank valve for sale haha. the bit about having even tank lines is a good idea tho. might change where ill remount a few things.   

My old Hawaiian never had a valve.  Ran both tanks direct to the water separator.  That's all I knew so it worked well for me.  Gas guage was never accurate but I just drew little hash marks on my ski flag at full, med and Low and just kept dipping it in the tank through out the day.  They seemed to never draw evenly though.  Now that I have a switch I don't think I would ever go back.  Doesn't take up really any room on the transom and gives me piece of mind!
Same with the battery.  I have a manual switch over and I know that if one dies I have a fresh one on the other side.  Highly recommend it

It is lol. I hate it but the guy drilled two holes thru the deck to mount it.
Now do i leave it or take it off?
