The No Wake Zone / Re: So...I went to Parker this weekend....
« on: August 04, 2008, 12:22:45 PM »
The lower river isnt much to look at but the water sure is great!
Everytime we've gone down to Big River or Lost Lake it has always been a relaxing weekend!
Good juju's about that place.
Curious to see what the Indians are going to do with that area after the lease is up in 16yrs.

I agree with you 100%. I have a friend who has a house at Echo Lodge in Parker. He has a 30' Magic and when my wife and go out there to visit we ALWAYS leave our boat at home! It just does not look like fun for a little boat out there! And I dont know whats with these guys who buy 100K-150K boats just to drive it on Parker. Pretty weak if you ask me...maybe they cant afford the gas to tow it anywhere else!
Next time you feel like boating Parker just drive 10-15 min. south and launch at Big River. No choppy water at ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!

First time I have been to Parker in probably 15 years, maybe 20....I went out this weekend and stayed at River Lodge Resort, the place was great!,but the River sucked!  :banghead:  Between the Big Boat's (that it appears all these guy's have something to prove  ::) >:()Hauling Ass down the River with NO REPECT for anybody else and in my opinion belong on the LAKE,the water was SO FUKKING choppy that if I had'nt been an experinced boater,I probably would have sunk my 18 1/2 foot Challenger jet boat. Anyway,I know this will probably piss alot of people off,but I needed to vent and just express my opinion on how i feel that some of these HUGE BOATS belong on a LAKE and not the River (it's just too narrow),but the worst part is,these guy's are doin' frikken 100 mph down the River with all the pleasure boater's/water ski'ers and the kids on the shore swimmin',that it's just not safe with some of the size of these boats! :o Anyway...I'll jump down off my pedestal now and just wait to see what kind of response I get from this thread and take it as it is...I just needed to vent, cus my boat almost got sunk just being anchored on shore from the wakes of some of these boats.... :banghead:

Well guys...Yep its my boat! Motor checks out. Had a carb problem. Just had gas spilling into the secondaries alot! Problem fixed. I am wiring up a MSD 6AL box with the rev limiter (just incase).
Reason for selling? If I can sell it for what I want. We want to make a run at buying a house while the market is still low. Thats all, then we'll be back with a new boat in no time!
You know before it sells I sure would like to get a crack at ALL thoughs boats that used to beat up on my poor little OLDS! :'(  By the way whats up with my old boat? Anything new?

Have a great 4th !!!

Have fun bud! Hey i found out after checking the valve train, and compression test that my carb was spilling in was to much gas! Purchased a MSD 6AL box with built in rev limiter. Will have it wired up this weekend. Waiting for a rebuild kit for the carb.
Good luck out there. Be safe! :screwy:

Give us a shout we'll come hang with ya ! Tom

Sorry Tom I just now saw this. At Naci we had a water line break and the whole boat filled up with water...almost didn't make it on the trailer!
At SA boat ran great untill the last pass...came out of the water one too many times. Think I hurt the motor. Taking valve covers off on a later date.

Next time bud!

IMO The AVI suks major asss, the water current at the ramp is  :banghead:  the dumbest location for a ramp I've ever seen. Jet skier's everywhere, everywhere. I'll never go back to that sh!thole. Just my cheery .02

watching trying to dock your boat on the "AVI Video" was fucking classic!!!
Come on Rod come back to the Avi. We all could use a good laugh. ;D

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For those of you who know or don't know us. Our first boat was a 1973 Yellow Miller jet boat. It was pretty much stock with a 455 olds-tunnel ram and a jacuzzi wj pump. On a good day with a tail wind, going down river it would hit 65mph on the gps. It was a good boat, served it's purpose, and never left us stranded. We enjoyed going to all the boating events, and met some awsome people along the way. Being that it was our first boat I quickly realized that the Olds and jacuzzi set up was NOT the way to go! We sold the boat back in November due to my wife taking time off of work to study for the California State Bar Exam. With only one income and the in the middle of my slow season w/work. The slow season didn't last long and I was able to keep putting money away with the hope of getting a new boat for this coming season. In Febuary my wife took her exam then she had to wait and wait and wait untill May 16th. On Friday May 16th at approx. 6:15pm the results were in... with a 29% pass rate...She F***ing PASSED!!!! I knew that my dream of getting another jet boat (this time with a BBC and Berkley pump) was well on the way. We must of looked at a dozen boats for sale between fellow board members, ebay, craigslist, and the local trader mag.... but we kept coming back to one boat. SHIFTY'S 1976 ELIMINATOR BUBBLE DECK. Sexy ass boat, no loud colors, kind of a sleeper, BUT NOT! BBC motor with berkley pump. Twin turbo putting out 747hp! WE BOUGHT IT last Thursday night!
Took it out today for a couple of hours. WOW! This is no 65mph boat, this thing gets on real good! I just wish I was able to spend a little more time with her. We had to cut the day short due to packing / getting ready for our trip to Ireland to see my wife's cousin get married. We leave tomorrow, so I'll leave here with a few pics. Happy Memorial Weekend guys. See you soon!
Before...

and after....
