So here's the story:  I have a 24' Hawaiian with a Dom S and PD... will a droop help?  It's a big heavy boat so anything to get it out of the water seems like it would help, but as of now if I trim it up it tends to porpoise a bit with chop.  Any ideas/suggestions?  I'd like to get a few more mph, but maintain the same/or better ride.  I know, I know... another 100hp will do it but also $$$$

up the North Arm?  We had a great little spot last time on the east side of the arm towards the end.  Parked on a point... kinda funky spot, but worked well.  I'll take a look for the spot your referring to when I get down there .  We'll have a blue sunshade up on shore -feel free to stop on by and introduce yourself.

I'm looking into the idea opening up the bow of a 29' to convert it to a mid-cabin.  Anyone have someplace they can recommend?  Any estimates what the cost is?  I've heard ~4k... but there always seems to be a HUGE difference in price once you got your foot in the door.  The previous thread on here had a re-upholstery job that was priced from 4k to <1k (aka HUGE difference.)  I'm not looking for anything out of the norm, just good quality work -and someone that stands by their work.

Sandaddict, Thanks for the heads up ... I was going to order this from Grainer for $50 or so.  Add a thru transom dump and I should be set.  $20 vs. $110 for a pre-made "kit".

anyone else have a place to recommend?  I may be looking at opening a bow on a 29'.  Right now it's closed... I'd still keep the mid cabin.  Any estimates on cost or what it takes to get this done?  The boat was also offered as a midcabin -so I don't think it will be a structural problem.  With some help I may do the cuts/framing and send it out for upholstery.  Thanks

I usually go to San V when I have the chance.  I've guess I've been lucky and never harassed there.  I have the black sheep of jet boats:  24-25', V, and a Hawaiian.  I guess they assume this can't get me in any trouble, lol.  No super, no turbo -just a cruiser.  I live in central SD-east of downtown. 

I've only been to El Cap once, and that was last year.  We made a day camp on the north arm -but the wind was blowin' 30mph... made for a crappy day.  San V, where usually in back of the kidding tow area once or twice a month.  I guess that depends on the honeydo list   .

I think that's what I recomended at first as well. Turn the valve down so there ain't as uch water going in thereby relieving the pressure.     That's how they built them when they were new.   

If you control off the gate isn't there the same pressure, just reduced volume?  If you have 50# in 1/2", you would still have the same 50# but going through 1/4" (or whatever size) so same pressure but lower volume.  You would run cooler at higher rpm vs. idle because the increased pressure will move more volume through the block until the pressure is maxed, then you get mikshake.  I'm going to run a pressure relief for safe keeping and also hoping to get more heat to the block...

You can run a pressure relief at 15-20# and dump the excess overboard...  This should keep the same volume of water going to your block with moderated pressure, possibly allowing the block to heat up a bit more.  From there you can run a t-stat if you need more heat.  I think "optimal" engine temp is ~180.  My jet won't see 120 if the gate is left wide open -if I close it, it would be reducing volume, not pressure and steaming up in there.  I'm a newb, so I'm sure others can chime in on this subject and explain it much better.
