i take it down to the harbor, pay $12 and drop it in the water for the loud stuff.  living close to water pays off.

Plug it or if you have valve cover pcv breathers hook em up there.  Its a vacuum leak and it'll make you idle like crap and lean as hell if you're driving it like that.

So what kind of wood?

Sent from my DROID RAZR HD using SoCal Jet Boats mobile app

honestly im not really sure... it was whatever i had leftover from my nursery project... i used it to cover the walls when i was putting in the wainscoting.  its super thin, maybe 1/8" thick.  i dont really think it matters.  it had 0 strength before the fiberglassing and now its freakin solid.

are all the cables properly attached?  both at the pump and they're usually held to where the shifter mounts with a little clip...

Hulls / Re: Trim Tabs & Ride plates
« on: July 15, 2014, 03:39:51 PM »
i believe them to be original, I've never removed them

only reason i ask is if you have a porpoising issue with the hull... the tab is basically a fix, especially with a stern heavy boat like a 18 foot jet boat with little to no weight in the front and a big block at the rear (lots of boats had hooks built into the hull for this reason...)  you want it set at an angle just so the porpoising stops.  too much angle and you'll kill top end speed and be burying the bow.

id imagine with a diverter you could ditch the plates though and pick up a few mph?

The No Wake Zone / Re: Throttle controls
« on: July 15, 2014, 12:19:32 PM »
i dont see a reason why a hand throttle like i have on my I/O wouldnt work on a jet... plus mine has a rexmar trim switch so if you had a hydraulic diverter you'd have everything in one area as far as controls...

ive never had to touch the throttle while in reverse to maintain control around a dock.  i actually barely even used reverse, it was pretty much useless.

True

that would be my worry, bring it home, start the process only to have the REAL owner want a handfull for it but unwilling to come pick it up because they dont have anywhere to store it.    it could turn into a HUGE headache.
