Progressive Insurance a.k.a. seaworthy insurance out of New Jersey – a little bit over hundred and 10 year for about $9000 coverage for boat and trailer

that is a great reason, now you get to look at the motor when its out , and nitpick other things you dont like! >:D

I've already got a list started ......

And I'll be very interested what exactly I have.... I was told it is  bored .30 over to a 468.... But I'm really don't know : cam.  Pistons etc etc

now all you can do is keep your eye on it. good (TEMPORARY FIX) at the end of the season you now have a reason to pull the motor.

Yup!!

I ran it for about 20 min on the trailer and no leak.    I told my GF... Now I HAVE to pull the motor end of season....

Hehe

I got a 2 part high-temp epoxy and roughed up the metal on the pan and worked it - on/in/under- the triangular dipstick tube holder spot welded on the side of the pan. It's not the ideal fix .... And I'm not really sure it's even gonna work, but I'm not wanting to pull the engine at this point....... But, I do live in Mississippi, and perhaps a bit of redneck has soaked into me.... I just hope not TOO much...,,

It's gotta be one of the spot welds like you said...I'm gonna try your suggestion... Hit the parts store mañana and give it a shot.....

Hopefully that will stop it.  That way I can run and then pull the pan end of season and deal with it then

Thank GT

Slight glitch....... I was running it on the trailer checking for leaks today ....found one.   Right where the dipstick mount is attached to the pan its a steady leak when running.    :8

Anyone with any ideas/ experience on how to stop repair it aside from pulling the engine and the pan?

I suppose I could get some epoxy and roll a small 'worm'' of it and wedge it under the flange where it is leaking....

Taking the boat out tomorrow for the final shakedown run. I checked all the fasteners and tightened everything after Monday's run..... It amazes me that even after putting a wrench to everything, after just 15-20 min how it all needs to be checked & re-torqued again

Engine Mechanical / Electrical / Carb hesitation
« on: May 31, 2013, 01:42:39 PM »
I have a slight hesitation when accelerating from stop... Running at various higher  RPMs,  then hitting it....it accelerates fine only coming off idle does it stumble.    It's not a pronounced bog.  The engine runs good otherwise......  Could it be I need bigger squirters? idle set about 900.... .... Newly rebuilt Holly 780. ( yes it is the 780 / 3310-1)
