Yep, Sounds about right. Then the guy was talking shit to one of the foremans cause I complained that the sticker was crooked and made him throw a new one on.. Im way OCD about that, and if I have to stare at it for 8-10 hours, damn thing better be straight!

Is the Banderlog website the only place to find the valve? I like the idea of being idiot proof!
I know Ebay sure doesnt have em.

Im not sure if its out law or not, but they made us put the smog stickers on all of our equiptment like the skid steers, backhoes, exavators, trenchers, EVERYTHING! And when they came to put the sticker on, they all got another sticker in the cab that says "This vehicle can not idle more than 5 minutes" At first it was a test to see if it would just kill the motor, but it doesnt! I guess thats their way of being stern on a sticker...  :screwy:

Holy shit glass! What kinda truck is that? I know mines old (99) but it was 422 for a one ton. My 03 Chevy with the 6.0 was 440. And I thought I was gettin a deal cause of the money Id save on smog! I even used that as one reason to buy the diesel (among 200 others) Im glad I got the edge, but even after you pull those programers they still blow a little smoke. One of the smog tests is a visual smoke test. Im not sure how they judge that. Guy up here is cool as hell, Im sayin if he finds a benjamin where the cats supposed to be Im in!

Started to tear into the motor today... Got this casting number off the heads, 346236, I looked em up and it says open chamber peanut ports.. I have a feeling that isnt good. That also means that Im going to have to get an intake for round port correct?

Thats what Im saying.. 4 inch turbo back straight pipe with AFE intake and Edge with Juice with fuel trim ALL the way up. Smog guy said cold air intake on diesels is legal. His advice was to uninstall the chip and drive for awhile then bring it in. With stock exhaust of course. I love spending money on the exhaust that I spent money to get rid of!

I dont know what were gonna be paying yet. I know for a gas pickup it was 58 bucks last smog I got. The guy up here doesnt have a dyno, so I dont think well be doing that for awhile atleast. Im running around like crazy trying to find stock take-off exhaust at all the shops. The first trucks that have to be smogged are the ones that reg. is up in April... LUCKY me!

I just got my registration renewal in the mail.. If the HUGE price wasnt enough already.. It says smog inspection required. I thought this was a mess up (happened before on my 74 chevy pickup). I went to the smog guy in town just to check and they actually passed it..

Effective January 1, 2010, smog emission inspections are required for diesel-powered vehicles manufactured in or after 1998, and have a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of 14,000 pounds or less for original registrations and transfers. Biennial smog inspection requirements will be phased-in beginning with a registration renewal date of April 30, 2010.

The whole damn thing has to be stock from intake to exhaust, and no chips or programmers. They have to pass a visual smoke test then be hooked up to the computer. Talk about shitty! This is EXACTLY why I bought a diesel, to be loud, fast, bellowing black smoke, WITHOUT the damn smog!

Sorry if this is old news to people.. I just had to vent before I go postal in the DMV!!!

Oh I wont.. Tow rig might be a ford, but Im still Chevy at heart! I just sent a bunch of PM for parts I found in the classifieds. Alot of em were old posts though. Hopefully a few will pan out atleast. The ignition system looks like it will be the most expensive thing for this motor.

Well, Sold the Rhino today. Sad to watch it leave but now I have boat cash! Picked up the 454 for 300 bones. Now the fun begins. Need a few things.. but what else do you guys recomend getting? So far its valve covers, intake/carb, scoop, high quart oil pan.. I think Im going to need a bellhousing and whatever parts connect the motor to the U-Joints on the jet. Id also like to get the motor rails to make it easier to pull later on. I have engine plates. Need a distributor, buy expensive or buy factory Chev? Iv heard alot about getting a cam.. your thought on that? It looks like I have all waterlines to hook up the motor. Anything else off the top of your heads?

Yah, Im looking for a BB then buying the bling later. Found a stock 454 locally with casting out of a early 70s Chevelle for 400 bucks. Iv been eyeballing Brads carb and scoop, just have to make sure Im getting the motor first. Moneys been real tight lately cause of the weather and I do dirt work for a living, not mud work! Going back at it tomorrow though, plus Im taking my Rhino to a guy for a test ride and hopfully some extra boat money. As soon as I get cash, this site will be the first to know! I gotta get this boat goin!

The boat I just bought has a hydraulic diverter. Theres a guy in town selling a droop snoot. Im going to be running a very mild 454 as soon as I find one with some chrome for looks, so is the droop even helpful? Thanks for the explanation of the impellers. Thats what I figured they did, but wasnt sure at all.

Since Im new to this whole Jet boat experience, Iv been reading alot to figure out what to buy. I have a few questions though.. Like whats the difference between an A impeller and a B? Why are some made of bronze and some stainless? Also, I found some headers for a BBC and was wondering if its a good deal or not. Theyre basset with the ports in the bottom for water, but no lines. They're shorter than most of the headers Iv seen and a little beat up, will need a refinish. But moneys tight and the guy wants $200. Worth it? Thanks in advance for any info!
