Right on, thanks Glenn. Really suffering from sellers remorse now lol. It wasn't the nicest or fastest but it was my green turd. And it never looked as good as it did when I sold it, not because I sold it but because i finally buffed the top half of the damn thing lol and that metal flake gel sure did sparkle. I'm just glad he's gonna enjoy it, he was a nice guy and really seemed to enjoy the boat. The look that was on his face when we pulled out of the no wake zone and I nailed it said it all. I knew he was gonna come back for it and that he wasn't gonna cut it up and part it out which was a fear of mine when I initially posed it for sale. Yah once it's paid for who cares right but I turned two guys away that pretty much said they were gonna strip it to finish their boats. After all that work I put into it, the last thing I wanted to see was this boat end up in the dump, which it probably would of ended up had I not bought it in the first place. Who buys a boat with a hole in the bottom? I most likely won't to that again lol.

Can you still feel the hin number if you rub it on the outside? If you can, mask off the area around it and spray some paint over it, then take a squeegee and drag it over it, paint should stay in the grooves and should be easily readable.

Pull the jc bowl off and put the jg bowl on. It's a direct swap all you need is a new bowl gasket, o ring, shaft seal and tube of silicone

So my question is, how would one modify a berk jc diverter to get a little more up?
I've seen people notch the steering cable adapter, and say it's for the "full up" of the diverter. Or could you just adjust the cable on the handle side?
I have search but unable to find what I'm looking for...

The diverter is maxed out before the cable brackets contact one another, there's some grinding that can be done to get a few more degrees but honestly your better off just buying a split bowl and going that route with wedges, rooster boosters and drops with higher pin angles.

No, just a good friend and neighbor. The guy in this pic in the red vest is the new owner. This pic was taken las weekend when he drove down here from Fresno to look at the boat and it looked like crap as you can tell. But he liked it enough to buy it. Throughout the week I buffed it out and it's looking better than it ever has.

My partner in crime, he's been a huge help to me with this project, from flipping it over to flipping it right side up, polishing the aluminum and just keeping me company and bringing over ice cold beverages while working on it. It's back on the trailer and waiting to be picked up.

I am pro gate valve and pressure regulator but I will admit my kona does not have one on it and hasn't since I have owned it. Never ran hot or cold, temps were always within 140-180 and thank god I never had a hose come loose or blow. I'd run a gate valve right off the pump and then the pressure regulator.
But idling on the trailer and running hot say two things, either you have crappy water pressure at home or your not getting enough water through you motor. I'd pull all the cooling plugs on the motor and heads (not the freeze plugs) and run water through it and flush the sand out and start putting them back in starting at the bottom working your way to the top. After all that I'd pull the hoses and replace them and make sure the fittings are not plugged. And most importantly are the hoses ran right and is there a thermostat.

It's funny, I went over and read that after he started this thread. Wanted to do it right but didn't want to pull the valve body so right away he was already on his way to doing a hack job. But I will say putting a metric bolt in there was by far better than what the guy ended up doing. Jb welding a stud in it instead.
