I asked kinda the same thing.. My upholstery guy said just light soap and water but after using the boat a couple of times that no longer worked.
Here's a old thread , maybe it might help ???

Engine Mechanical / Electrical / Re: Holley carb ?
« on: April 17, 2008, 01:30:36 PM »
That 800 is a mech. secondary carb and IMO just right for your BBC. Did the Holley site ask you if it was for a marine application? Jet boat ap.? Is the 800 still sold/available? (if it isn't then that would be a real good reason why they wouldn't recomend it) I have never been to the Holley site looking for a recomendation but with all the variables in ap's I can't see it being 100% perfect. Your engine won't know the difference between a 750 vs. a 800.

RUN IT!!!

Yes its mech secondary's , just what i want..  I went back to Holley and played around and now it say's i can run a 950 CFM carb so yeah it will work.......Dont know about production on this carb and i put it in as a race set up with a mild build. They have marine but i dont have a closed engine cover so i can use car/truck carbs ;D

2sav,

I would recommend overhaul the carb you have, run it and see how it works out.  My engine is stock with mild cam, running 2 600 vacuum secondary carbs (little overkill but that's what it had on it).

If you can get it to me I'll overhaul it for you (the only part I haven't done is new bushings).

Man that would be great , but at the moment every penny i have is going toward the upholstery when its done. So it might be a week or two before i can pick up a rebuild kit and get it to you. Thank you for the help , i have done the 2 barrel holley's and they are a piece of cake. But the four barrel's i will probably screw up and i dont want that ;D

Thanks.

i like those as well, just not the pricetag that goes with them

After talking to you last saturday  i can see that the piping is buggin the shit out of you...
I can see why you want it perfect as i would , too much hard work and money to let one little thing keep you from finishing the Boat.........

Talk to the upholstery guy get the piping changed over to the color of choice. I think blue would look killer..

and then sit back get drunk admire the boat, but dont put on any stickers while drinking ;D

Just run it once and see how it works. Then adjust from there  >:D

It needs to be rebuilt , and i dont want to spend money twice Or i wont make it to Parker ;)
I think i will just sell it and buy a new 750 something like what brad has.. That is a nice carb ;D

Engine Mechanical / Electrical / Holley carb ?
« on: April 17, 2008, 11:09:26 AM »
i got this carb from River Dad with the engine i bought from him ;) Now i wanna know if this is practical for my application... Dont know what the CFM is it has so many #'s on it
8620
8551
6501
6513
L47802

The 4780 comes up as a 800 CFM carb, im just taking a wild guess here that thats the number?
Im running  BBC  yeah  CHEBY ;D mild cam and 020 over pistons. I did a search on the Holley site and they recommend a 750 CFM ???   So is the 800 to much?

Run them.........What you have done so far has been awsome, you'r ride is a work of art. And if anybody say's anything about the piping on the seats........Then they are missing the whole picture..
Besides with the amount of boats we are going to have out there, i dont think anyone will notice the piping on anyone's seats ;D

Save the duckets for beer ;D

Maybe is was suppose to go to Europe where the steering is on the wrong side and they drive on the wrong side of the road as well.  If full stringers could be added and the paper work cleared with DMV, it might be a nice boat for a SBC project.  What do you think?
