No Josh, all the "late" model LS engines have port layouts like the BBC instead of the traditional SBC.

Why they didn't use a different designation than LS, I'll never understand. An LS7, to me, is the HP 454 engine used in 70-71 Chevelles and Corvettes. Now it's a 427 Cu. In. small block, while more powerful, shares NOTHING with it's namesake or any other small block in Chevy's past. And we thought Ford engines were confusing??

I got lost there real quick too Skip!  Thanks for explaining it, kinda, guys. Actually putting my brain into action (a rare occurrance) on this, and kinda makes sense to run a water pump/t-stat in a way.

Gonna think about this for a bit, but intruducing the water from the jet at the tstat housing, and hooking the headers and o/b dump there also is going to starve the engine of water until the t-stat opens (assuming the block IS full of water to begin with, if it isn't, the t-stat will NEVER open, it's at the highest point on the engine cooling system so the block needs to be pretty full less expansion).

That would be my only real concern as I see it right now. I would probably tap the water from the jet into the rear water jackets in the heads and run a pressure releif valve off the jet as well. But then the headers are gonna run dry until the t-stat opens as well. maybe run the header T off the jet drive as well and push in from the back of the cylinder heads? Brain may fry on this one! (How to bleed the air out of it?).

Good food for thought though! Great excercise!

I dunno. I just remember Terry informing me (correctly, I might add), that built up boost pressure on an engine was a bad sign you were over pressurizing it, as it obviously cannot flow that kind of volume at that rpm. Diesel's can, and should, take more pressure, but more pressure= more strain on parts unnecessarily, as I understand it. You also need to flow more fuel as pressures rise. It's all about efficiency, as I recall the discussion (Actually, several before he drilled it into my lil brain).

But what do I know, lol. Ask Terry.  100 PSI is INSANE to me! And I doubt intake manifold gaskets and other parts last long with that, and I cannot even imagine the exhaust gas temp readings on that engine!

But I've also heard horror stories about the 6.0 in mine, and haven't had a real problem 'cept the cold running at our recent sub-freezing (45 degree) temps of late.  129k and running strong as ever, once warmed up.

As it is, you need injectors, and this discussion is not helping that lil bro. It never ends, the cost of maintenance.

FWIW I just spent $400 fixing the g/f's Sable so it had heat because her ex-room mate put stop leak in to try and fix the leaking reservior. (what a FUN TIME THAT was, lol, asswipe clogged the new heater core! Luckily it withstood a 125 PSI pressure flush and a new blend motor).

Hence the Pontiac is free now if you need it as a loaner, lol.

Lost a good friend of mine from back in the day, yesterday.
From what I'm hearing is that he was jumped by a group of guys and left for dead. He was put on life support and yesterday they took him off.
This guy would give you the shirt off his back anytime, anywhere without a doubt!
I just found out that he was homeless living on the streets. Im so bummed. If I only knew, I could of done somthing to help his situation.
I remember whenever I would see him he would always say "punch me in the stomach" and I would. Then he'd say punch me harder pussy...I remember laying into a punch and he didn't move an inch!
He was built like a pit bull! But just the nicest guy.
Sad that he was taken away from us but he is in a better place.
Im fuckin bummed.

Sorry to hear about this Nate. I've lost more than a few old H.S. friends over MY years, but every one is STILL hard to take.
