i stuck it on after the pic.  hit the ignition switch and the fuel pump hit 8psi and no leaks.  so far so good.

off tomorrow morning to earls in torrance and picking up the following:

8x       1/2 to -1an 90*          15..63/ea
1x         10an T fitting        17.59
2x   3/4 to 10an 90*      17.92

another $200 in fittings.  i cant wait to start installing this stuff, exciting stuff.

the main difference between marine and automotive is they're sealed so they dont emit a spark under a hatch. 

a 1 wire alternator doesnt actually do anything until the engine gets to a certain RPM and then it makes its own electricity to work the internal voltage regulator.  you'll notice as rpm's go up and down that the voltage changes as well.

3 wire alternators have the ability to maintain a 14v constant no matter what rpm.  and most HEI ignition systems are going to like 14v more than 12v. most electrical ignition boxes and EFI do NOT like going below 12v.   

theres other small differences like the ability to use a charging indicator light, etc.   but mainly 14v all times, more wiring needed (gotta run a charging wire, and a switched power wire to ignition), and they're generally cheaper.  if you're running stereos and amps and lots of gauges, etc go with teh 3 wire. 

i highly recommend the clamp deal that goes into your vice for those lines! $20 well spent!!!!!

i got it to slide onto the hose and such... put a little dab of oil on the inside of the hose and on the threads of the fitting.  slid in like buttah and is nice and tight now.

i gotta get some AN wrenches though.  painters tape and wrenches are too scary.

What's up with the motor? Have you tried to start it?

ive taken my 18 out from 2nd street/belmont shores in long beach.  its pretty crazy to drive up next to one of the big cruise liners, tankers, or cargo ships just anchored in the harbor.  u can also go into san pedro area and check out the port.  theres also queen mary as well.  just make sure u flush... that salt water does some nasty stuff.  also go check the local surf report, last time i went out there were some ROLLERS and i got pounded pretty hard. even though you're in the breakwater it still gets pretty rough.

i like that maybe he will see this and have another one he will sell me, but i have a 5 bolt so i would need an adapter or to change it to a 9 bolt

yup i had a 6 previous, ditched the whole thing, got a 3 to 9.

he'd have to pay someone $1200 to take that waste of time.  either that or take it to the dump.  MAYBE the trailer is worth something, the hull is toast.

yeah shipping is tough because not only are they 12' long so they have to go freight but they put them inside a PVC pipe so they dont get bent.
