The oven cleaner worked. Hopefully I can get to wet sanding it this week and take the remainder of the paint off. Unfortunately I lost some of the pin striping but I was already expecting that.

Have you tried a razor blade?

Sent from my thingamabob using SoCal Jet Boats mobile app

a little. it would definitely take A LOT of scraping to get it off and even at that it wouldn't get 100% of it. hopefully i can get outside in the morning before it gets to hot and see how the oven cleaner works.

Looking to pick up 1 or two spare wheels for the boat trailer. it's a 5 lug. need to pull one off to know the spacing for sure. doesn't matter if they have tires or not.

We'll be there on Saturday. Not sure if we will drive or just ride the bikes down. Considering Friday night for the show and shine if i don't have work.

Will there be a SCJB booth selling stuff?

Not the best color match but I think this dark purple will look good on the pump.

Run me through the wet sand process. Material list as well. I'm willing to give it a shot.

I only do them maybe once a year at most.

That's what I get for letting my friend buy them. He didn't. I'll be sure to be on top of it next time.

Just a friendly word of advice. DO NOT BREATH THAT SHIT! Zinc Chromate was likely used on the bowl. The dust is toxic and can enter your bloodstream,  good ventilation and a respirator. Better yet, wet sand it.

Not trying to scare you, but it's worse than brake dust.

GT

Oops. It's already done. Guess I'll be more careful with the rest of it.

bring your float by shop....ill hit it up with easy off....sand and buff it same day!!!  BAM!!

stanton, ca.

I would love to be able to do that. Working nights right now doesn't give me much play to do stuff during the day during the week.

Cleaned the bowl up so I can paint it before it goes back together. Someone got way to excited with RTV when they put it together last.

So leave it.

Maybe get a Coors Light sticker to cover it up. ..lol

I'm going bad luck with it and changing names. I already put a new sticker up top but don't have anything big enough to cover this.

Your going to be color sanding and rubbing bud. IMHO no way around it. Flat surfaces are easy. Won't take long.

Sweet. On top of trying to get my pump rebuilt I get to deal with this. T minus two and a half weeks until laughlin, I have to get her ready.

I really don't want to have to wet sand it as I don't see me keeping this hull after this season but "Plum Crazy" has to go. I will get some oven cleaner tomorrow and see how it works out.

Negative on the brake clean.

The paint and pin striping were done by the same guy. Not that it probably makes any difference.

There is no clear on it. Someone just painted it on.

I will try a little brake clean to see what it does.

How can I get this paint off? It is just painted on top of the gel coat. Rubbing compound with a buffer? Wet sand?

Picked up a new pump since the old one was trashed. Thought i had a 12jg but after looking again today I have a 12jb. New pump is a 12jg though. Going to Place tomorrow to discuss options then going to call B1 on a friend's suggestion to see what he says. Hope to have her back together in the next 2 weeks.

Thinking of tossing some paint on the jet while it's out, any recommendations on something simple that will hold up for a few trips?
