So we have been told by two fiberglass shops that Bebo's Hondo is probably not worth fixing (bad stringer/transom) 
. So we are parting it out for engine funds for the 454 in the garage. Here is some of the stuff we have, more to follow. Jacuzzi WJ with place diverter, cable and floor mount handle - $750. Forward/Reverse lever - $$25. Fuel tank filler caps - $40. Rex Marine foot pedal - $40. All prices are plus shipping. Possible trade for Bowtie parts.

X2 on checking the guarantee. I broke the locking collar on a Craftsman torque wrench once. But because the part was plastic they said it was not covered by their guarantee. They changed their minds when I started getting pissed and made them bring out the manager. Not as costly as Snap-On etc... but still about $100. Just a word of caution.

Projects / ROTTEN STRINGER/TRANSOM

OK, so I finally get Bebo to work on the Hondo after finding the bad foam outside the stringers (previous thread), and now we find that the left side stringer is rotten where it ties into the transom 
. On top of that a small part of the transom is rotten where the stringer ties in 
We also took out part of the glass from the floor and the wood seems pretty damp - Somebody stop this ride I wanna get off!
I am not as concerned about the floor, I think we can handle that part of it. What worries me LOTS is the stringer/transom repair. If it were just the stringer I would probably attempt it with help from you guys on the board. I am concerned about how big a job the transom repair is and how it would affect the structural integrity of the boat. As far as I can tell so far from poking/proding the transom damage is about 2 inch diameter, possibly more but I cant tell yet.
This is an ultra low budget build, but this is my son Bebo's boat who is only 14 now, but I don't want to give him an unsafe boat or one that will give him problems later. Is it worth doing ourselves? If not approx how much would the stringer/transom repair cost. It is a 1/4 stringer boat.

Thanks GT and Slckreg for your help, but I think we will have to go with GT's stocker due to financial constraints (read in unemployed ). This is such a low dollar build that Bebo is using his own money which I have promised to pay back when I can. We have even given the boat a name - "Bits & Pieces"

Slckreg - Let me see what happens with the chrome one and yours will be plan B. Bebo liked the thought of a chrome one, plus I don't think that anything bigger than a stock one will fit. It is going to be pretty tight fit no matter what. I will let you know.
