i just want to say thank you for posting pics of this entire process.  my dash is pretty dry and rotten and it has a crack thru it.  the pictures and everything are a great help to knowing that im going to be on the right path of digging the rotten wood out from behind and glassing in new wood.

curious to know if you have any tips? and how you glassed upside down like that without getting it all over yourself.

there were no dings in any of the fins, everything was nice and sharp.  the tolerance to the side looked pretty good and even all the way around as well.

Not trying to sound like a dick, but yes, its available for $500...I know that's what I'm asking for everything, but that pump is still worth more than that. And without the pump, the rest of the boat/trailer is worthless in this economy.

not a problem/no offense taken at all... im just gonna keep my eyes open and see what my options are with my existing pump.  =) just thought id toss an offer out.

the inside looked okay when i tore into it, i think the bearings are completely shot though.  when i pulled the dipstick it was completely dry.  i tossed some 90wt into it just to have something in there and it growled and rumbled.

i see a brand new panther pump selling for $800 on craigslist, and i know jbp does rebuilds, what is a typical overhaul process on a panther pump like?  can you even get parts for em anymore?  wondering what my options are at this point.

it floats!  it runs!

needs a new pump though.  got a horrible rumble in it at idle and a little shimmy at like 2k rpms.  just putt putt'ed around in long beach harbor to test things out.  reverse is like a sprinkler show, i need to tighten up the clearance in the little diverter so it doesnt spray all over everywhere.

now to just take care of a few loose ends, upholstery being #1 and the pump and im ready for boating season.

DRIVELINE IS IN!!! HALLELUJAH!%!#%!#

took some adive from pb and unbolted the exhaust, it wasnt like OMG but it was a lot easier.  got it to slide on FINALLY and then bolted up the mounts... then jacked up the back and put the rubber piece in.  just need to get some bolts and tap some bigger threads into the clamp since the originals are all stripped out.  i think hercules torqued it down originally.

got my alternator mounted up, new crank pulley on, spaced out, and a new belt on it.  gonna finish up the alternator wiring and then prolly drop it into the water to get wet!  weeee tomorrow will be a fun day! then i get to tear it all apart when i get the AN fittings and hose in. heh.

all done.  now to just drop em into the boat, trace the hull line and trim em to fit and cut the round parts for the inner bucket and the end by the motor and then glass the edges.  then off to upholstery.

hopefully should last forever.  also gotta make the "seat cushion" inner part but that'll be super quick.

started passenger side...

dry.

the sheet of fiberglass for the outside...

and all glassed.  PHEW the fumes are insane.

tomorrow ill do the inside of the passenger side with a sheet of fiberglass, drivers side is done and very strong.  i tipped it on its side and stood on it. then seats are DONE and ready to go off to the upholstery shop.

oh and dont worry i got the swivel fittings, not the straight ones.

just need to lift up the motor and get the driveline finished, finish my seats and then im READY FOR BOATING! yaaay.

finish seats and upholstery, bolt up driveline.  mount up crank pulley and get a belt for the alternator... then just misc things before she goes on her maiden voyage.  then its just upgrading some of the things.  going to AN fittings and braided cable, upgrade to real marine carpet, new steering wheel.

Random Boat Parts For Sale / Re: WTB 1350 driveshaft setup
« on: February 01, 2011, 10:19:21 AM »
It seems odd to call this a driveshaft (everything between the cank and pump). But I will call it a driveshaft. I need a 1350 driveshaft, there I did it. I can use a 1310 if that is all that I can find.

Thanks

i have a 1350 PTO laying around... i bought it thinking i had a 1350 driveline but i had to use a 1310 with my panther pump.  $40.  u gotta have the PTO on the crank and then the driveline bolts to the PTO.

I have a decent single axle trailer....it comes with a boat on it too.......$500.

its straight, just needs some paint, bunks and wiring. I know a guy who can convert it too.

I will be in the LBC this weekend and can deliver it. It dont get any better then that.

Haha appreciate it. But I dont have room for a boat too. Ive been watching you try to sell that tahiti. Great price!

« on: January 31, 2011, 05:22:28 PM »
my current trailer needs a lot of work, the whole back end is tweaked outwards, rust, etc.  also id rather have a tandem...

anyone have a 18' trailer laying around?  dont care about the bunks or wiring/lights... I have all new lights/wiring that i can swap...

im just worried that foam gives water a place to sit.  id love to have a ncie comfy soft floor but not if it means im gonna have a giant sponge underneath my carpet.  curious if foam is the norm on most boats.
