Nice progress bro, looks great. Do yourself a huge favor and round off all the sharp edges before glassing it (you will thank me later) you can use matt (light stuff) to strengthen it up, resin by itself does little to nothing...

i turned into boxes with some more wood and added some bracing to it.  more concerned about waterproofing.  just dont want the seats to weigh a ton.  i do have some glass left over from doing the floor... also i was talking to 76 bonneville and he mentioned doing full glass on his and the upholstery shop was pissed because they couldnt shoot staples thru it... haha.

Got a set of seats and going to use them as a template to make NEW seats... as u can see they come up about 10" too short, so I'll be extending that part back.  also need to make the bases for em. it'll all be brand new glassed plywood with stainless hardware, the bases will have some plates with threads in em built in so I can bolt them down rather than having to screw them into something and worrying about em ripping out, etc.  Hopefully I can manage to get some storage under em but from the quick mock up last night it doesnt look like it'll be much.  maybe a towel or two. heh.  once the frames are done i can take the original upholstery to a shop, and it should be easy for them to recreate it, just a little longer in the back.  

   Lets just say you decide pull the trigger and put a gas gauge in, your running two tanks one sending unit will work OK but not going to be accurate even if their pulling equal, and if one pulls more then the other and ones of the tanks goes empty now you have air in the tank = stranded back to square one,or you can run a manual shut off valve to keep from pulling air after it goes empty.

run dual senders, run the senders to a 2 way switch, then from the switch to the gauge.  this way u can switch between tanks.  once one gets low you'll know before u suck air and can turn off that valve.

Here's a question for ya....how did you find this site?.....and after you did so, what posessed you, a roll bar boat owner, to post here? 

I have yet to find a respectful owner of a boat like yours.  All have been dicks and assholes, and most are close friends.

The only reason that several are still floating is because I had a small boat that while beached...couldn't really sink when the wakes came over the stern.

That being said....you can certainly make friends here if you show respect....not in the forum, but on the water.  Turn down the music and watch the wake when you're near other boats.....that's really all it takes.   

IMO theres nothing really "respectfull" of this post.  Dude has a boat, it might not be how you like it.  Who cares?  Theres a lot of boats on here that I can appreciate but I wouldnt go buy one, theres not enough seats and only go straight.  This guy happens to like watersports, and that requires lugging around a lot of crap that doesnt really fit anywhere.  So a tower kinda makes sense.   If its not your thing just say something like "not something i would do, but nice job." 

the beer part should be a requirement for any boater. 

My doctor said I was good to go back to work .So I show up today and they have moved me to a new crew and there is no computers in the truck on that crew.Time to get a better phone with a better computer in it.

did some "backwards progress" work this weekend.


pulled the motor out and assessed the stringers:


no water dmg, after running a test drill thru it i got nice dry wood, then filled the hole with resin. 

then started my "plating process".  cut em to length, drilled all the holes.  then started bolting em up with good ol grade8's:




dropped the motor back in:



put in my gauges and finished up ALL the wiring.  gotta figure out whats up with my fuel level senders/gauge.  not getting any reading.





few issues:

have a 1310 driveline, need a 1350.  flywheel is index'ed for a 1350 pto, which i purchased.  but the driveline doesnt match up at the PTO adapter.  is it possible to swap out just the front part?

need alternator mount for a 454 bbc, and a single groove crank pulley. 

I NEED SEATS!  gotta hit up 76 bonneville on his recent purchase.  didnt get his voicemail until tonight. grr.



oh well.  so far everything is new and im extremely happy at the progress.
