WTB / WTB - small cap BBC distributor

I'm looking for an older style mallory or something like it with a small or smaller diameter cap for a BBC would prefer an electronic as opposed to points... Not a deal breaker if it's not, I can always just throw a pertronix kit into it.

*thanks phil* also while messing with the boat I discovered that my quick release for my throttle cable that attaches to the carb linkage was hitting on my mount and stopping the carb from opening all the way!!! About 1/8 of wasn't opening. *bangs head* Had to notch it to clear but it's all good now!
which makes sense I used to run 5300ish rpm an it's been only hitting 4900ish.

I can teach you the secret trick, look up the part number stamped on the piston!
Any factory replacement piston with a dish deeper than .125 is low compression.

Spend ur money elsewhere... Stock lower end bolts are fine for your application.
The mods that you need to do on the lower end require grinding/porting... With that said, once done, the block will need to be re-hot tanked and thoroughly cleaned.

They are LOW compression, the lowest you can buy

« on: June 22, 2014, 05:36:46 PM »I'm not sure where I'm being cheap but I have absolutely zero intentions of keeping this boat olds powered I just fell into 90 percent of a fresh olds motor for damn near free. If it runs all season I'll be happy I don't need it to last more than a few trips and inplan on going easy on it in hopes its still running when I'm dome with it.
With that mind set, why even build it in the first place?
And what's the point of asking for knowledgable advice on how to build one... Just throw it together, keep one eye closed! And putt putt it around the no wake zone

Best piece of advice so far!
Get threaded main restrictors. Since I now know the secret, ( thanks Drew) some plain 1/8 NPT internal plugs with about a 60 thou hole thru them will be good.
Also, you want to open the #5 main cap where the oil pump sits. Also, don't forget to shim the oil bypass about 3/16.
Also, you must notch the big end of the conrods and make sure you have correct rod clearance.
Get some good rockers that have some sort of adjustability to them. Restricted pushrods are not mandatory since you will be restricting the mains.
The pistons you have are not high compression.

But the fact is some if not most of those so called mods ARE NOT NEEDED! you just have to keep an eye on the oil pressure and the rpm. and build it the way your going to use it. Not just the cheepest way possible, and expect it to do everything you want.
Contradictory...
Not all the oiling mods are needed...then don't build the cheapest possible...
Which oiling mods do you speak of that are not needed that are so expensive not to do?

Trailer does not have any bends or damaged and is in great structural condition very minor chips in powder coat. Undersides of fenders have been rhino lined.
Trailer is completely boxed in with rounded edges,super strong construction.
comes with good hubs and bearings and bearing buddies. Will need bunks of your choice and wiring for lights.
Trailer has a 2 inch tongue with swing away wheel jack. Trailer tows straight and smooth.
Has four nice chrome wheels with good newer trailer tires
I have all paperwork for trailer transfer
I'm asking $750 or best offer. please PM me with your phone number if you are interested. I will respond right away.
