2sav, like I said before, I would absolutley tear it down and go through it......   396 block???   wtf??  Is that a shorter stroke or a smaller bore?  The guy I got it off told me 468"....   I found another set of rods that I'll bring out to you next time I come out, but they are 6.135 (i think std 454)  I'm glad you pulled it apart and are going to take the time to build it right.  The boat will take way more time than the motor will..........   Also, on the performance boat site, there's a guy selling a brand new set of ARP main studs for 60 bucks,  that would be a good deal for that block.....

Yeah just as we discussed , i will freshen it up and make it a bad MO FO Ive also been watching them there ARP studs on that other site There is a couple members  here helping me out with running #'s and giving advice so i think we are good to go.

Then i ran some #'s and found out this is a 396 block with 454 heads thats good it will lower my compression down to 10-1 or just a little lower. I can use pump gas I talked to 429heads and we are going to work them , even though they are peanut heads they will be fine with the smaller displacement (imo)

I sit here and read everything that you peeps are saying about Havasu and I finnaly had to chime in...I grew up in the Frisco Bay Area....a small town in the east bay...well at least back then it was...and the cops sucked...if you rode your Harley thru town you knew you are getting pulled over. And it wasn't just Pleasanton...Fremont cops suck....Livermore really sucks...Concord, I could go on....you get the idea...I moved here and ride and no problems...I boat and no problems...I party and no problems....I am old enough to know that you reap what you sow....if you act like an ass you get treated like one...the people here in Havasu are and have been friendly and honest....the people that own the shops around here are honest and tell it like it is...(you have to love that even though I made a mistake about a good company and am still feeling bad about it, ie:http://finneys.com/specialize.htm). The few that come in on weekends and run around like a bunch of yo-yo's doing things that they would bitch about if it was in there back yard, are the ones that give Havasu a bad name...if you look hard enough you can find anything about anywhere that isn't in "the norm". enough from me.....

I lived in Havasu in the late eighties , i always seemed to find the trouble and ended up in the jail which reminded me of Mayberry back then. And to this day i still do not like Havasu....Bad memories...........Bitches
