That paying it forward thing is so awesome. If I have it laying around and you need it it's yours. It's a boating lifestyle thing.  You just don't see that stuff happening in other aspects of life.

Engine Mechanical / Electrical / Fuel delivery problem
« on: March 23, 2014, 09:09:25 AM »
Can't get any fuel to flow from drivers side tank. I'm hoping and praying its just a hose collapsing  internally. I'm gonna try that first if its in the tank not going to be able to fix before Parker so I'll just make up a transfer pump. Fingers crossed!!

The No Wake Zone / Re: Can't keep the front of the boat down
« on: March 18, 2014, 02:05:49 PM »

Personally I think the boat is fighting itself.... Full down means its pushing the bow down on the water and basic physics the water is pushing back....and its a never ending battle (hop)

What happens if you run it mid nozzle (straight)?

Is it only a problem with a lot of weight (number of people not fat chicks) in the boat?

If youre cruising at a mild speed and it starts hopping, if you raise it a few hundred RPMs, does it get better/worse?

And under any circumstances, fat chicks are never a solution.

X2 on the fat chicks. They are never an option. The extra weight is never worth the risk. Even mid week when no one is around...lol

Engine Mechanical / Electrical / Re: Are these rods forged?
« on: March 15, 2014, 06:00:30 PM »
Resizing is a must. Rebuilding 101. I guess I shouldn't assume that. Guys if you're building a motor and spending money on parts at least buy a book to make sure doing it right.

Engine Mechanical / Electrical / Re: Are these rods forged?
« on: March 14, 2014, 07:42:31 PM »

They are forged... they are the "truck" style rods, which are the better of the two (actually 3) versions of the 3/8 bolt stock rods. Resize with ARP bolts in them and they'll be plenty fine for a 150 shot...

matter of fact... with a good tune, I've thrown 275 at a set of beamed and shot peened 3/8 rods w/ARP "pro" bolts and they took it perfectly fine for dozens of bottles worth of passes. GM rods are really not as bad as people like to claim them to be... You'd be amazed at what you can reliably build with on a nicely built/machined 2 bolt studded, balanced cast crank, 3/8 ARP bolt rod, bottom end.
Same here with my 67' Camaro 275 shot with a four speed never had any problems. Like I said good bolts is the key.  396 .030 forged crank & 10:1 pistons squeezed the shit out of it....never should've sold that one!!!!

So are the factory forged rods not as good as the aftermarket stuff? I'm going to throw a 100-150 shot of spray on it, I'm buying forged pistons but I wasn't sure if the rods would hold but I guess since they're forged I should be ok?

Just make sure to use good bolts. That's the weak link IMO

Ill post in the next day or two about the jet and gears. It can be for electric or gas. Also add a little wait in it. Like the waits they use on car rims not the ones around the rim but the ones u put on the inside of the rim that are flat and stick on.

The No Wake Zone / Re: Oh Sh*t handle
« on: March 07, 2014, 12:02:17 PM »

Should I be thinking of putting some sort of oh sh*t handle for my passenger? I was thinking of something mounted to the stringer. Mainly for shut down to keep them in the seat. I never really thought about it since I have the wheel to hold on too. I don't find myself in the pass seat too often.

I am gonna pipe in on this one seeing as though I'm in the passenger seat most of the time... My hubby (All Fired Up) put an 'oh shit bar' in our boat for me up front... (It's on the side by my leg) I do grab it quite often... It's got nothing to do with being scared or anything like that... It's more just to help me keep my ass in my seat at certain times! 😁

Sent from my iPad using SoCalJetBoats mobile app
That's pretty much what I was thinking. Just something to keep her butt in the seat.

I don't understand with all the knowledge being provided to you. Why are you married to that camshaft? You can save yourself a lot of money and disappointment by listening and taking the advise from those that have been there done that on this site. JMO
