The No Wake Zone / Re: What did you do to your boat today?
« on: June 07, 2014, 10:54:21 PM »
Was gonna pick up another rack cable and wheel from another scjb member who is a very long time and trustworthy (supposedly) member, not gonna mention any names. Drove 70mi to downey waited all day for his text even verified with him yesterday that we are still on and he flaked. Thx a lot bud. You know who you are....Foogazi! So yeah nothing got done to the boat. I'll attack it tomorrow.

bellflower to downey is 70 miles?  bummer that he flaked.

Boat Showcase / Re: Cheetah tunnel
« on: June 07, 2014, 10:15:51 PM »
Well I think I had found my uncles old cheetah tunnel. I contacted the owner and tried to make a deal but it was all for nothing, because he went to register it and it had $1800 worth of registration fees so they gutted it, cut it up and trashed it. What I have found out is there were only 40 of those hulls made so it was rare and now it's even rarer. So if you have a cheetah tunnel hull they are few and far between. I wish I could have saved it from the trash but I was a couple weeks late. Rip cheetah tunnel

why would it have 1800 worth of registration fee's?  if its not registered for an extended period of time it gets dropped out of the system.  even my bahner was last registered in like 03 and it cost me all of like 65 bucks to bring it current.  sounds fishy to me...

The No Wake Zone / Re: Anyone tow with a V6?
« on: June 07, 2014, 07:39:00 PM »
Haha at towing with a jeep. They're the most useless SUVs for towing. 2k towing capacity. You can bring home a single jetski if you're lucky.

Get a v8...

what do the holes on the hull side look like?  did it shear the bolts or completely rip out the fiberglass?

408
no.  exhaust gaskets are meant to be crushed when torqued down.  plus a set of fel-pro gaskets is probably under $10 for a 350 at any auto parts store.

4 threaded inserts with epoxy on the outside threads to the wood.  you'd be able to pick the boat up from your foot pedal...

run a tap and die over them and see if they'll clean up,  it's looking great nice job. Did you ever change your trim tabs?

Sent from my SCH-I545 using SoCal Jet Boats mobile app

i would tap and die them but i cut a few of em because the bolts were completely rusted  after 30 years and even the almighty pb blaster and a torch wouldnt bust em loose. i tried wire wheeling the rust off them but no dice.

the trim tabs are next on the list.  the boat and trailer are on jackstands in the garage right now and i cant get to the transom.

little more progress on my turd of a boat...

gonna buy new ubolts, the ones i have for the original axles are suuuuper rusty and a pain in the ass to put back on.  then its back under the trailer to get bolted up and make some mounts for the fenders.

Earls aeroquip or ARP

I bought eBay fittings once and they all turned to shit on the first trip out I took it all off and replaced it with earls and it lasts great so far. Both fuel and water. And I put my boat in salt.

I don't think it's the trailer making those boats look that good......just saying.

Trailers / Re: Trailer length
« on: June 03, 2014, 09:07:43 PM »
What differences will I notice if I go a foot or two longer?

Sent from my SCH-I535 using SoCalJetBoats mobile app

i added a folding tongue to my trailer and made it a little long and i plan on shortening it up.  i cant back it up my driveway around the 90* turn anymore after extending it with the folding tongue.  yes that extra 2 feet made a *HUGE* difference in my turning radius.

All the high dollar boats are electric everything. Ive seen them with a large box thingamajig that controls left and right fuel tank. What is it? And about $500 bucks!

Sent from my SCH-I535 using SoCalJetBoats mobile app

thats the superfuel valve.  it automatically switches tanks when one side is low, and its high flow AND its fully USCG certified for marine use.

What are the benefits with having a 3 axle trailer besides the load carrying capacity.

besides having more tires?  nothing really.  i just like the way it looks for the most part.  heh.

its for cars, not boats.  wheres the manual ball valve to turn off the tank in case you have a leak?  not a fan of the electric valves.

one side done.

springs are flipped right now.  its a losing battle to flip em over without the axles mounted up...

super excited with how it turned out so far.  gonna make mounts for the fenders/trailer lights next.

my custom fused and bosch relay panel with led's that manual override when you push on them.  i still have bar with ring terminals but they're hidden inside the box.

under my dash

i personally wouldnt put your fuse panel under the dash.  keep it in the rear close to the battery.  i chose to use relays so i could use much smaller gauge wire throughout the front of the boat and keep all the higher gauge back at the rear of the boat where its needed.
