The Laker boat actually ran pretty good after CJ222 got done with the carb on it! I was impressed. Cj222 has the most impressive headers I think any of us ever saw, and made as much noise as I did! Those 2 blown forkies with the zoomies sure had us all beat for noise. Be nice someday to see them grow some balls and actually flat foot those bad boys!

Mike, that's only 1 piston, you had seven more to clean off the bridges with?  ;D ;D
More than enough, lol

Kinda wish mine performed a little better, but it did OK when I took Omar for a ride and even better on Sunday, ran flawlwssly!

Yeah yeah yeah! You're Right on, Brian, but 20 minutes pulling a battery outta the truck and putting it in the boat Mine was good to go, until the bolt fell outta the reverse bucket cable late in the day (Oh how exciting, and exhilerating, that was!!! Anyone on the boards see that?) THANKS RALPH! for the bolt and nylock nut! Dunno how or why that happened, but since I just put a PD on it before the trip, I'm going to have to assume it was my own fault!

Thing almost tossed me outta the boat when that happened!

As I remember 3 of us got towed in, lol, two catastrophic cases on untested engines, really. From what I gather neither of those are that catastrophic, so was a good weekend. Even Omar fixed his Creamsicle by just switching tanks.

What fun!!! If you do the math, we had a very low failure rate out there. Sure a few had problems, even the *cough* outboard boat, but the minor issues were TCO PDQ!, (Again, Thanks Ralph and Keith for both of your expertise), And I think we all had a good time. Tony and Jimmy seemed to run without a hitch at all! So did Brad, Glasscutter (John), CJ222, many more. No Spilled oil, lol.

Ray

O/B, I/B, Jet or V-drive, we had a pretty successful, and FUN,  weekend, I think!

BTW, Late Sunday, you guys all shoulda been around to see this Mooneyham blown Sanger Hobbit (K-boat) V-drive run, Damn nice boat, and Fast? Wheew!!!!

Got home from Parker today and found this purdey lil thing sitting on my laptop in the kitchen,

Yeah, I know, you all thought I was talkin about a girl! This is even better!!!!

Apparently, my baby brothers been busy while I was gone. Hopefully he saved all the CNC and UniGraphics data on building this puppy. It's a cross between the steel one I bought (which won't work with my mounts) and what I need to mate with the low mount SCJ brackets I used. Should work fine, but now gotta play around with the whole Belt length issue again! Should give about a 25% reduction on the alternator.

I'm gonna tear off an alternator pulley for him too, see if he can make one about 15% bigger or so and deeper grooved. I think my problem is Pseudo-solved, the belt stayed on this weekend, with a new belt, and NO sustained blasts above 4500 or so (Well ALMOST No blasts, did romp it and hold it right at 4800 or a little above right before I pulled it out Sunday with Brad, what the hell, was pulling it out anyway, lol). Still want it to stay on at 5500 or 6000 (where it wants run), so there's where my mind is at with that. Should save alternators too.

Trying to see if I can get maybe at least a couple seasons from a belt, instead of a dozen or so trips in a season? (That'd prolly be 3 or 4 belts a season by my math)

Anyone else need or want one? I might be able to sweet talk him! (He did explode, burn and sink my Beisemeyer, so the guilt card is playing well).

Jet Pumps / Re: panther pump???????
« on: June 22, 2009, 04:34:27 PM »
Naw, Tony, Just funnin! The panther should be just fine for mild performance applications. These Energizer kits I've heard about make quite a bit of difference froim what I understand, but have no idea what they are, how they work, or if they are even worth the money.

It really matters what you ant to do with the boat in the water. If you want balls out performance, the Panther ain't gonna do it. But if you just wanna cruise around, ski and pull tubes with it, should be more than adequate.

Truth be told, you should be able to find  a Berk equipped boat in similar condition for a similar price. Look at Brad's Southwind, beautifull boat! and a Smokin deal!

Be patient, and watch the craig's list threads on here. I'm sitting here right now drinking beer trying to convince myself I don't need the 21.5 Sleek Glenn found! lol

Go buy the man a nice bottle of wine  ;) .................. My asshole neighbor would have called SWAT, the IRS, The local newspaper, other neighbors and the mayor....LOL.

GT

I gave such great retired neighbors, lol. They don't mind the Fugly boats beside the house, the (Now) empty trailer in the front yard, or me firing up the Moo at odd hours. Usually after I do that, the next day they come over to see what I did that absolutely needed testing at 2 AM! (Usually nothing, just someone that never heard something like this run  while we were having a pool party or something, lol).

(House up the street's for sale Glenn, 3 car garage, pool, RV gate and big lot, lol)

We actually had a discutssion about this on Saturday on the beach. I watched the Moo pretty carefully and she held 160 at almost any given time. heated up to about 180 if I left her idle for awhile, but I honestly don't see a problem with 180-190 if you're not having detonation issues. That should be a target temp for proper engine wear on a street engine so why's a boat different?

My concern is your logs getting tore up or burned up running them that way though.

I'm quite sure B-rad's bride filled up a memory card or two. Left my cam at the motel on saturday  :banghead: Was only 4 of us total floating on Sunday, so not much to take pics of. Gonna d/l the one from my phone here in a few though. Brad will probably post up tomorrow sometime, he may even be back in Vegas now.

I planned on heading to vegas with the boys, but after my phone finally dried out (Don't ask), I was being blown up with 911 messages from work all day saturday and sunday (Almost tossed the phone back into the river). I guess they have a serious "issue" going on. (Nothing to do with my, so why do I gotta come in? I dunno).

No major problems, other than my battery issue, Rivertards weird blowing up scene, and Crewcheif's engine (Hope that shit is minor Keith! Heard about all the shavings tho).

Brad's raceboat even ran well after Ralph put on a different carb (I won't tell).

Wished I'da taken the camera in the end on sunday, as I'm pretty sure Brad's roost from the Southwind is touching the Parker bridge. Sawit as I followed him through it, then from the front as he went through it a couple more times. Mines nowhere near it, but I'll figure out a way to increase it a little, but I'm just happy to be able to do it.

Brad and I got back after our last float (I actually didn't run the boat much on Sunday, was texting a LOT! lol. Also 'til I'm sure twas the battery 100%, didn't want to go down river too far) And Glasscutter (John) had liquor on the park table. Whew! was a gift, not to drink it, Saturday night was enough, lol.
