Just when are they going to realize guns are NOT the problem? I mean really, and I'm gonna rant here with a little education on the matter.

The problems with the gang bangers shooting each other hasn't ceased, even after the Brady law was supposed to and promised to fix all that. The problems with armed robberies has not ceased, nor domestic homicides. (Sarah Brady, I'm sorry you're husband is now a 'tard, but gun control had NOTHING to do with it!)

There are exceptions. Washington DC, where owning a gun, ANY gun, was illegal even in your own home for 30 years recently changed that law. Where it was once the Murder capital of the world (No lie, check the stats), murder and death involved crime is down like 80% or something and it's only been a couple months. Florida passed a concealed license law back in like 96 and crime there is down, from previous numbers, almost a similar percentage.

Legal or not, I will own guns. I beleive in my RIGHT to protect myself and my loved ones. I own many guns that are not registered, and never will be.

First things first tho Nathan. Finding TDC on a 460 ford, and actually finding 10* BTDC is pretty easy, and more important. Rotate the engine so you KNOW you're coming up on compression stroke on #1. When #1 is at TDC, mark the dampner, start watching #6, a coat hanger works for this as well. As soon as #6 starts to go down, mark your dampner again, that is 10* BTDC within a degree or two. Put the dizzy in pointing the rotor right at #1 and you can't go wrong.

Boat will fire and idle every time using that. (I've never had a timing light on the Moo, just a seat of the pants adjustment from those settings.)

Your boat sounds like it fired again and ran OK, so sounds to me like you may have aquired a throttle linkage bind or your throttle cable isn't installed as it originally was. Just thinking.

Edit, shoulda noted, rotate the engine backwards from running, so it's tighteneing the crank bolt!  All this relates tio that!

When I saw it, I wanted to go hook onto it and tow it at least near shore. Shoulda been easy to swim to it from 20 feet and hook onto the bow eye, and tow it with the Moo, but they wouldn't let me. Trust me, I pleaded, lol. But I get their point, coulda very easily started a wildfire on shore then too.

Once you see the picture and see all that black smoke, yeah, it was a caustic burning mess. From when the "explosion "happened to the eruption of flames was a good 20 or 30 minutes from what I'm told by my baby brother.

Find any bolt and use a bent up coat hanger. Find TDC on #1 then bend the hanger to indicate 0. Doesn't have to be fancy.

Yeah, that's what I have too, Chamberlain. I like the Genie screw drive due to the lack of moving parts, transmissons and nylon gears, etc, but the belt drive is sooooo quiet. Can't even hear it opening from the laundry room!

But a huno install is much better than me doing it, lol. (Gotta have the garage cleaned out tho Tom, no boats!).

Go to HD, Tom, if the local store doesn't know how to set it up, I can help them. You can cash and carry a good belt drive, what I have, (I think they have them on sale for like 229 or something with the battery backup). And it can be installed for $99 or $119, something close to that. I assume Cali is the same as here.

Most stores don't know how to do it, but I do, lol. Cheaper than the door guys or even our own Funish and install guys get for the same opener.

Lol I'm from Ohio, We just called them that because they were used on everything. Even electric forklifts use them.(No starters) You'll find them on any car, including roadgraders, backhoes, etc. In every case, it's to drive yet another relay (Solenoid), which is all it is.
