The No Wake Zone / Re: Looking for info on Hallett
« on: September 02, 2010, 12:00:53 PM »
I met George Hallett (I think that was his name) after he had sold off the company. He had a small repair shop behind my friend's dirt bike shop in Downey. He was still working on boats till the day he died.

Its funny, it would probably pass the sniffer, but won't pass the visual. I met a guy with a 1000hp Supra that was runs cleaner than any car built by the automakers, but he can't get it registered because it has been modified and won't pass visual inspection! This is just one of the reasons I KNOW that the smog tests and ARB is just a racket to make the state money. They don't care about emissions, they care about $ and keeping you from customizing your car (making it faster).

I get a little "claustie" in those things. I have to keep eyes closed the whole time I'm in there. Hopefully the one you use has music, it makes a world of difference. Last time I went in, the stereo was busted so I had to sing songs in my head to keep myself distracted. Figure that it takes about 10 three minute songs to do the procedure. As far as the back thing, try getting the injections first (done with xray and injected into spine joints) and pt. I haven't had to go under the knife yet, but I know it will happen eventually. I gave up riding dirt bikes to hopefully make it till I retire to get surgery. I also need to drop a few pounds, that would probably help a lot. Lodine is one of the best meds I've taken. It's an anti-inflamatory drug (like motrin or aleve only much better). I just had to stop it though because I had taken it daily for 2 years straight and it was burning out my kidneys (all anti-inflamatories are hard on kidneys). So now Dr tells me to take Vicodin when I get flair ups! I hate narcotic pain meds so I rarely take em. The other med that works really good is Zanaflex (its a muscle relaxer) just make sure if you take that one, you position yourself where you want to be for the next 4 hours cause you aint movin lol. It also tricks you into thinking its not working because it takes over an hour to kick in! Hope that helps. There are a few of us here that suffer daily from back issues. Good luck today. Don't hesitate to call if you have any questions!

I used to have a guy that would pass anything with a case of Bud Light "emissions reducer" left in the trunk. I'm so glad I live in AZ now and don't have to deal with that rip off bs anymore. Good luck Aquaholic!!!

It's $600, but I don't know if its worth it or if I even need one. The river has a lot of sand, just not sure if its any kind of problem?????

The No Wake Zone / Crazy Storm last nite
« on: August 27, 2010, 09:31:02 AM »
We had a crazy storm hit us last night. Uprooted trees, knocked down power lines, destroyed signs (a few of the old signs that have survived for years were ripped off the building with chunks of the building still attached!), and knocked out power (90 degrees with 37% humidity) making for a miserable night. 14,000 homes still without power today. Several homes and cars destroyed by falling trees. Temp reached 118 during the day and we had hail the size of a thumb. We were the lucky ones, our power stayed on all night. But all our kids lost power and we ended up with kids & grandkids at our house. My wife and I watched the lightning on our back patio till midnight. Got a pretty cool video of a lightning strike on my cell phone. I'm just glad all our kids are okay.

I see a lot of them on the drivers side at the rear of the boat. That's where I'm putting mine. I will have 3 dumps. One 3/4 for bilge pump and two 1/2" for engine with one out the back and one out the left rear side so I can peak over and make sure its flowing. I was kinda eyeballing the sand strainer at CP Performance. Has anyone tried one?

Me too, but I saw a car done in the Red Orange combo that looked bitchin and my wife's golf cart is purple orange combo.  :banghead: The name of the boat is "Asmodeus" which is the demon of lust. So I'm kinda leaning towards red or purple.

Looking at finances, we have pretty much written off getting her done before summer is over. Sooooo now thinking seriously about painting her. Got four color schemes and can't decide which way to go yet.
1 Candy Apple Green with Orange true flames on deck
2 Candy Plum Purple with Orange true flames on deck
3 Candy Blue with Orange true flames on deck
4 Candy Black Cherry with Orange true flames on deck

Anyway, found out I can have boat sanded and primered (maybe even base color sprayed?) at work for cost of materials only. Also have them strip and paint the trailer. Then get my local guy to shoot color and flames.

I went with black because the diverter is black powder coated (bought it that way). I will eventually go to a split bowl and a droop so that's why I just rattle canned it. I will have the split bowl and droop powdercoated.

Here are a few pics so far. Still quite a bit to go. Got to rebuild carb and I'm thinking I need to replace the steering and fwd/rev cables. Theyre pretty cracked up and the steering will leak like crazy.
