Ralph, there is no way I can pull the engine from the race truck as I will be testing in three weeks for a Ralley race.

All I have right now for a engine is this;

You should post more pics of your build ;D

Borrow a welder and just do it. Practice on  welding two pieces of steel together and then WHAM, you're an expert MIG welder.... if you have access to one it's really easy, point and shoot.

Good luck either way

I can see someone blowing hole's in there header's ;)

let the pro's do it
i know from experience  lotsa grinding

Actually it was the machine shop in town, near where Shirleen had her accident, that over bored a .030 job.

Was talking about your 429 that you had in the Havasu machine shop ;)

Im still going to Bullhead machine like i said before im happy with his work.

The first thing you need to do is have the block bored, yes I know the jack ass at the machine shops here in town want the pistons when they do it, but you have no idea what they need to bore it to. Then again they could even make a mistake while boring like .008 too big and you will be stuck with .030 pistons. So lets take the block to be bored and then deal with pistons.

 They have already seen the block  and it was discussed that we go .030 over. This is not the first time i have dealt with this maching shop, They have done a few of my blocks and always ask that i have the pistons on hand.  I have already talked to him about clearance issue's and im comfortable with it. If it happens it happens, didnt you just go through this with your machine shop?

I bought the restrictor kit that Mondello sells and I was going to talk to my machinist about the oil returns.  From what I've read, that should allow me to turn 5000 rpms whit not problem  ;D, but I do not want to look like this  :'(, if I am wrong!

 They have them for the main's and lifter's but you can always just run restricted pushrods.

These restricters were made for racing so you should be fine
 I only had them in the main's

Make sure if its not already done, you have restricters installed and open the oil passages for a better drain back to the pan ;D

Have you checked out Mondello's?  they got some really cool stuff for the Olds.

Engine Mechanical / Electrical / Engine build, Yep More questions
« on: November 14, 2007, 10:48:25 AM »
Everyone knows i am now a proud owner of a BBF 460  ;D  And i want to build it right. I have been doing nothing but searching for pistons and i think it would be a big help if i got some input from you guy's here.

 I dont want to go wild just mild and i know there is ALOT of people here who have built there own engine's for pleasure and racing and a combination of both for some people.

 I have been looking at Aluminum Hyperteutectic (sp)
 Forged And Keith Black Hyper pistons, Now it leaves me alittle confused with so much to choose from. What would be a good suitable piston for a basic pleasure/ski boat?

H Beam or I beam rods are they neccessary for a rebuild or will the stock rods be sufficient for about 5Krpm max with ARP bolts.

 Now for a good cam, I think i will only be about 8-1to 9-1 max on compression and i would like something alittle more than a rv/marine cam or am i asking to much ???

So if you guy's think you are baby sitting me with this build

You are ;D and im not done asking questions

So get used to it cause i dont want to phuck up ;)

Thanks,
