new carb didnt work , so i pulled the intake and the cam is gone . Metal in the lifter valley .....Real Nice . My builder says he will rebuild it again . Hope fully he knows where he went wrong .

 I had a feeling, but didnt want to jinx you. 

 BTW, did the oil smell like fuel ?  That will wipe out a new cam real fast, dont ask how I found that one out. 

Thanks for the reply's. I'm probably not going to go with a tunnel hull or picklefork, I've noticed there quite a bit pricier for a clean one. I'm Looking at spending around 8k turnkey or 4-5k without power, thanks. oh by the way I called a guy about a white 72 or 73 rogers he had for sale on here but had already sold it. I really like the lines on that hull design and the guy says Rogers is one of the best ever made...anybody know where ones at?

 Nothing wrong with a Rogers, probably one of the best V hulls.   But if your serious about going drag racing later I would look for a tunnel or gullwing.  The deals are out there, you just need to take your time and know what you want.

 I assume your talking about a future drag boat sense you sold your drag car.  You have a few options style wise, in no particular order. 

 Option 1
  A 19' tunnel, Eliminator Daytona, TPR, Cheyenne, etc, etc.

 Any of the above would make a good drag boat later, The gullwings will have the most room inside (no tunnels taking up space), and are a bit more family friendly.  It all depends on what you like style wise, and what you can convince her is a "tame" jet boat for now.

i had the pyles. they are alright. but for the money get the alpine 7 inch marine speakers. those thing rock i can even hear them over my motor under full throttle.

and when parked they rock outside theboat as well.

 Your being nice, Pyle was a good company a looooooong time ago.  They where a family owned company, and one of a few companies that where actual manufactures of speakers in the USA.  They actually made there own speakers and amps, also made speakers for other brands /companies.   Those days are long gone.  The name is now owned by a large corporation and all of the products are low quality (overseas made, swap meet style) stuff.

I think the advantages are that it sets the pump lower so the water doesn't have to travel up as far to get into the pump. And (like you said) with the angle change of the pump that you noticed the nozzle will be lower so you dont need to bend the water all around in a droop. The less you have to bend the water the better it can flow.
 
Bad points. Like you sad, transom adapter wont work, you need to make plates. Motor sits lower, might not clear the oil pan, rear mount, etc. And because of there lower height and different angle, alot of the low pro intakes need special hardware (loaders, etc).

More power.

 How big is that roller cam ?   Problem might be that your motor can make more power at higher RPM but cant make enough at 4500 to get past that point.  Post up some cam secs for the experts and I'm sure they can tell if thats the problem.

 Also, are you sure its an A impeller in there ?  I think (if I remember right) 4500 RPM on an A impeller is only around 300hp. Maybe its been changed to an AA.  That would put the motor up closer to 350ish hp.  A smaller impeller (B or C cut) will rise your RPM, but thats not really recommended with a big heavy boat. 



 BTW, the size / weight of your boat makes no difference for RPM with a jet.  Your only spinning a water pump. If you put your motor and pump in a smaller / lighter boat, it would still turn the same RPM.  It would just go faster.
