OK, Got the Moo named finally! Guy does awesome work! Does it all Freehand. Told him the name, left it up to him how to do it! I think it's awesome what he came up with!

And a Nice touch!

Guys been doing it like 55 years. Works for us part time now.

His name is Al Cajthaml, (goes by 'Cy'), Phoenix Az (602)820-5765

Also have a girl in our paint department willing to do the engine cover for a GREAT price too. Will keep you updated.

Never cared for the LP's, but you'rs looks nice! Too heavy for me.  Sound is AWESOME though! Only Gibson I ever loved was the ES 335, which explains the Epiphone copy of it I own ( Played 3 or 4 classic ES335's and none play or sound as good as mine anyway, so I'm happy)

Never woulda took that Strat for a newer one tho. I have a '62 Re-issue my dad uses  (Back east), love them things! My fav is my BC Rich tho. Had that custom made at the NJ factory, back then, in 1980. Ordered a 57 Tele neck profile with a Jackson style strat Alder body with a Floyd Rose. Love that Axe! (Paid I think $1800 back in 1979 for that and waited a year for it, but worth it)

Man we Jacked this thread all to hell!

Random Boat Parts For Sale / Re: WTB: 1310 U joint assy in good shape
« on: April 16, 2009, 11:46:53 PM »
Let me try to elaborate. My last post sounded a bit "short" and I didn't mean it to.

The better, and really ONLY reason to start a jet boat off the hose is to make sure it'll start and idle. You cannot tune it to perfection off the hose. And here's why.

The engine is going to perform miuch differently under load than it will in the garage for one. Two, if you try and do this with the drive connected, then yes, you're going to do much more damage to the drive than you would gain. A disconnected driveline does nothing for you in tuning a boat, IMHO.

My point is this. If it starts, and you can get it to idle, get it in the water, under load. That's the ONLY way to tune it to it's potential

Just my .02, I'm sure some onw will chime in and prove me wrong.

Andy, I'm sure someone you know has a vise  Omar has one I'm quite sure. That is all it takes to rebuild your 1310.

Press out the old U-Joints, Press in the new. Quick and easy!

Why buy one you don't know is "better" than yours?

Just my .02, but call me and I'll walk you through it, it is EASY! Save a buck dude!

Why halve it in the middle anyway? asking for more trouble if you ask me.

Nice stack Terry!

Had a Marshall half stack, very early JCM 900 series, awhile back, sold it to get cash for my move to AZ.

Looks sweet! looks like 4-10" cabs?  If they are, good for you, sound better than the 12's anyway, and they can me miked to get volume. (Mine was a 50 watt head, 1/2 the old PLexi head, really, sounded AWESOME!)

Mine is a Fender Dual Showman head (1962, and mostly untouched, except for the effects loop), and a redone Fender cab with Celestion Sidewinders in it. I like it a LOT.

Ray

PS looks like a '65 reissue Strat?

OK, so a bud showed up today, looked at the stringers in this pig, drilled a couple small holes, said it looked fine. A little delamination in a couple spots, but should be good to go. Great, just what I needed. Well, start next week maybe. Gonna be hard to take the time to build this one now that I have 2 running boats I can play with, but after work, etc. So tomorrow gonna buy all the 2x6's and 2x8's I need to build a cart for the thing. I'm thinking the back patio would be a good place. Hate to kick the Moo out of the garage just yet. Gawd Cin is rolling in her grave over this, I just know it, lol.

Goal is simple, really, want the hull done by winter. I'm really regretting pulling it from the guy who was gonna do the glass work and paint it a couple of months ago. But when I got the Moo boat, well, things changed.

This winter I have other things planned for the other two, well, really the Blue Monster more than anything, so don't want to be doing anything but piddling on this one putting the engine in, etc.

Still want Andy's Bahner too. Might work that out next week. Got a guy lined up to buy one of my cars soooo. I am a glutton for punishment, but it's very therapuetic and cheaper than therapy.

Here we go, decided to do it, and my plans for it I'll keep to myself for now! Started gathering parts, lol

Not to thread jack, if I am, but what ever happened to the Predator Variable venturi carbs? They were all the rage and everywhere in the 80's? Seems to me a design like that would solve everything, no?

Ray

Update, just checked their website. They're still around. Not very technologically advanced, judging by the website, but might be interesting to experiment with this, lol. Bid on a used one on Ebay. Just to see one, really, might find a use for it if I get it.

Apparently, very limited production. Kinda like the Seecamp .32 automatics everyone wants.

I kinda like it! Very innovative. Made me go look at the pump cover on the Moo boat to se if I could do that too. I wonder if they make them in Titty Pink?

Boat Showcase / Re: Is there a 12-step program..........
« on: April 14, 2009, 10:31:16 PM »
I think we may need to have Brad move this to the Project boats thread! lol.

Nothing major, at least the floors staying in it. All minor stuff, but crawled under the dash to look and see if anything apparent stuck out. Yup! backwoods/Hill jack wiring, at it's best, and enough electrical tape I took off to pinstripe the boat with it (And more!).

Was getting VERY windy and bleak looking so I just covered it up for tonight. I'll take some pics of this mess in the morning. The guages are not even bolted in!, no brackets or anything!. I'm amazed none of them popped out Sunday. Wiring I can figure out, I think, reprinted the post on standard color codes, which should help.

Second battery and battery switch affair is not even hooked up, and the second battery is an anchor, breaker is disconnected, tubing from the Pitot to the Speedo is jacked (Should be an easy fix with some nylon tubing and a couple compression connectors)

Anybody know if you can get just the mounting brackets for gauges? I can fab some from some strapping I guess if need be, shouldn't be but a couple of hours with a sawzall and a drill. Did eyeball the bottle of Gorilla glue more than once tonight tho........Nah, better not! >:D

Gauges are lighted, but dunno if that part works or not. Looks to me like someone put these gauges in very recently, and obviously didn't know what they were doing. They look new tho.

Got some other stuff to do in the morning (Taxes! What a friggin nightmare this year!), hopefully I can get a bunch of connectors and fix this mess Thursday night, and change the oil and filter. Oil looks very grey, seems like condensation to me as it looked a little milky before I took it out on sunday. Cleared up after warming it up on the trailer, so I let it be.

But it did fire right up!, that's a good sign. Should be able to get this mess, and finish buttoning up the Moo for Sunday. Hell if Brad can tear half a boat apart and put it back together, including glass work in a week, I should be able to do this much that quick!

And I keep telling myself, tighten all the hose clamps, thighten all the hose clamps........ ;D

Nope, never been there. Threatened my bud with bodily harm if he didn't get a 2" ball and 4 wire harness on his Xterra this week tho, lol. Need him to tow the Moo boat up there. I want both of them on the water. The Blue boat ran good, took all day today to charge 1 of the batteries, other is charging now, then I'll look into the wiring tomorrow night. But even 50-55 mph (And that is a Guess, might not have broke 50), unacceptable, lol. At least if I have the Moo boat there, might keep me from doing something silly with this boat, like tear the engine out and go crazy again!

Noone wants to ride in it (the moo boat) with me tho, lol. One guy asked which one was going so he would know to bring his fishing rod or his helmet.

What's the best way to Bartlett taking the 101 north? Don't even know where the launch ramp is? lol

Ray

Bring one of them to Parker, several jets will be in the area next weekend.

Thanks Keith! Would love to, but have B-day parties (2) on Saturday. Gonna be a Sunday only run. We will cruise again before summer is over, you coming to the Echo Bay deal?

Sorry to edit this, but TC, do I need a pass for that lake? and how bad are the Rangers there? Thinking of putting the baffles in, but don't wanna if I don't gotta.
