I'm having the same problem with one of mine. I clamped down on it with vice grips and it didn't budge. Just shredded it. Thinking if drilling it out

What kind of exhaust? Maybe came up through the exhaust manifolds if they are logs. Happened to me before when I had the exhaust flappers go bad.

I don't think there is supposed to be a screw there. Looks like there was a repair in front of the screw also.
I have never seen anything mounted/bolted through the bottom of the boat others than the intake for the pump.

20-50 with a high zinc content. Most modern oil doesn't have enough zinc needed for flat tappet cams. This is what I use.

I have the plate that bolts to the stock intake. You can have it if you wanna pick it up. Has some extra holes in it from I don't know what.

Hulls / Re: Agressor impellar
« on: July 18, 2017, 05:31:24 PM »
The aggressors have a more aggressive pitch than a Berkeley impeller. If you have an aggressor B cut its just about the same as a Bekeley A cut. I'm not sure about the Hi Helix impellers.

Engine Mechanical / Electrical / Re: BBC Oil pressure to high ?
« on: July 11, 2017, 07:08:50 AM »
No sir. Not a rebuild. If relief valve failure would that cause high oil pressure ?

Sent from my iPhone using SoCal Jet Boats
I have never experienced it but I have read if the pressure relief valve/spring in the pump goes bad it will cause high pressure.

Also the pressure relief valve in the oil pump might have failed.

Possibly a cam bearing has slipped and covered up one of the oiling holes. That can cause oil pressure to back up. Is it a new rebuild?

Engine Mechanical / Electrical / 460 roller rocker question
« on: July 06, 2017, 11:10:31 PM »
I had my d3ve heads machined to accept some comp cams roller rockers. After installing the studs , guide plates, and pushrods, they all lined up nicely with the exception of cylinder # 8. The roller on both the intake and exhaust hangs over the valve tip about .050 toward the front of the engine. Will this cause a problem or can I call it good?

Finally figured out how to attach pics.
Is this even repairable?

I'm no head expert, but when my valve seats cracked, it was cheaper to go find a bare casting and re assemble.

Engines / Engine Parts For Sale / Re: Engine cradle
« on: June 09, 2017, 10:31:39 AM »
Just get yourself a pallet and some 2x4. Wasn't that bad to make. I strapped it down tight to the truck and made a 300 mile trip.

Yep. Thinking I might go this route

Does anyone have an engine cradle for a BBF that they want to sell or possibly lend out? I need to transport my engine in the bed of my truck.

Engine Mechanical / Electrical / Re: BBF 466 Carb Size
« on: June 05, 2017, 07:53:26 PM »
I have a 21 Spectra cruiser, just installed a newly rebuilt 466 BBF back in it.

When i bought the boat it had a 600 cfm Holley Marine Carb on it. I upgraded to a Quick Fuel Marine 750cfm but now am being told that is too small. Couple of people have told me that the BBF in a jet boat setup likes a lot of fuel and needs an 850cfm, that i will lean it out with a 750cfm.

The original motor leaned itself on my 4th trip and burned a piston and cracked the block with the 600cfm on it. Trying to avoid that with the new motor.

The boat also has 3/8 fuel line from the tanks, through the IMCO valve/filter setup and to the pump/carb. Is that big enough as well.

I am no expert by any means, so hoping to get some feedback from the group on here. Thanks

I just bought a quick fuel 850 for my BBF 466. I had a Holley 750 on it before when it was stock and it ran great.
Did a lot of upgrades to the engine so It was recommended I run an 850.

So the screws broke off in here does anyone know how I could get the stubs out or do I need to replace it?

Sent from my iPhone using SoCal Jet Boats mobile app
This happened to me. I bought a screw extractor (ez out) set from the hardware store and got them removed. If you have never used one it takes a little practice. You have to first flatten the broken screw with a dremel or grinder, drill a hole on the middle of the broken screw, then lightly tap the extractor with a hammer while turning counter clockwise. Follow up with a tap to clean threads.

Tiny marks? Or...? I mean if it's just a couple little dimple marks... wouldn't sweat it. If you got like gouges or sharp edges... yeah... little emry cloth might be in order to smooth out.

Yeah they are small dimples like it was stabbed with a ball point pen

The piston stop I was using with my degree wheel left tiny indents on the top of my piston like it had a sharp point. Should this be of concern?

I use the high temp RTV and tighten it down while it's still wet. Never had a leak. It all depends on how straight the mating surfaces are
