This is the second day i owned the boat.  I had been watching it on craigslist and the price suddenly dropped.  It took me 4 hours before i could get through on her phone line. :banghead: After getting through i convinced her that i needed to get out there that night which was still a 2 hour drive.  We ended up pulling in her driveway about 1 o'clock in the morining where she met me with a busch and a 38 special.  Long story short her boyfriend had signed the title over to her 5 years earlier bc he owed her money.  She needed the money and put it up for sale.   He was the origional owner of the boat and brought it to St Louis after moving from Arizona.

Just a couple of movies showing the first time i took my boat out.  The river was flooded, no rudder, and it was my first time driving a jet boat! :o :o

I am from STL and probably going to run up there this weekend.  (the river is flooded again  :mad: 

Had my buddy call the corps today and see if there were any restrictions:

called Illinois Army Corp of Engineers  - Lake Carlyle...spoke to Dave he said as long as it doesn't interfere with anyone's recreation (doesn't piss anyone off) ;D everything should be fine.  He didn't even know what the noise restriction is...I mentioned the motor you're running.  He didn't have a problem with it so I guess there aren't any horsepower restrictions.

I live near an ATV Park in Missouri.  The first warm day of spring last year my buddy and i took his ATV's up to the park and went riding.   I am much more of a boat guy and was soon over my head on the trails.  As i crested the top of a very steep hill i noticed that 10 foot in front of me was the end of the hill and on the other side was a lake.  :o  Luckily for me i had no hesitation about saving my life and bailed off, but the bike proceeded to crash down into the freezing water.  Long story short, after swimming the bike across the lake (the side i was on was too steep to climb) we were able to get it back to the car.  We drained the bike, replaced the oil, started it, and repeated this cycle until the oil didn't look like a milkshake.   

My buddy said that his wife still hasn't noticed that her brand new ATV had been submerged.  Luckily large tires kept it from sinking otherwise i would have been waiting for divers too.  ;D  Best of luck to you i, understand your uncetainty.

P-Jet, I actually saw your post earlier this week.  You did one hell of a job on the windshield for it!!!!  I think my best option would be to go ahead and invest in a box anchor and tie up to the beach facing out.  I don't normally get that much water over the transom while driving but i havent mastered the art of backing the boat into the beach yet. I am just sick of the whole engine bay filling with water.  If anyone has any tips on backing into a crowded beach let me know.   lol  It seems a lot simpler to learn from others mistakes rather than hitting a 100k boat. :o

Great Thread!

How far out from shore do you typically anchor?  (in the nose out position, assuming parking in or near sand).  I would be parking on the river with a fast current and crowded beach and would rather not learn from my mistakes.

I almost had a heart attack last summer when some sand clogged the jet and i couldn't get the bucket to flip up! :o

I will be doing some research this weekend to see what the best option will be for me.  I contacted the old boat owner and he took the measurements off of the boat and had a plastic shop bend it for $120.00.   Seems pretty reasonable to me. 

My biggest problem is waves coming over the transom when i am sitting on the beach or slowing down.    I could always anchor backwards but i don't want the jet sitting in the said either.  I will follow up and let everyone know what i decide to do.

I am looking into bending my own plexi glass to fit my boat.  I will let you know if i have any luck.  Mabye you could make your own windshield.  :-\

I'll have to come down and boat with you one week.   We are expecting temps in the 80's this weekend and it will be my first weekend out for the year.  WHOOOO!!!! ;D  I need to bring her home and get her ready tonight.

Just spoke to Finney's and they are mailing me a chart on how to measure my boat for the custom built splash guards.  i will keep you posted on my progress.
