Audio / Re: Stereo System Advice...Please Help
« on: February 19, 2010, 10:06:12 PM »
Its kinda relative to how you want it to sound and how ya install it. If you want to hear it when the boat is running adding the 8's wont help. That setup should give ya decent sound as long as its installed correct.

Did you get rid of the paper filter inside the scoop?
Yes put a flame arrestor on it.

Thanks Tom I will try that.

Nice drawing  ;D

So whats the best way to secure a scoop so it does not keep flipping around? I tightened the nut down as tight as possible n the damn thing keeps turning around. I finally turned it backwards but I dont like the "look" as much.

Topock / Laughlin / Last weekend
« on: September 16, 2009, 09:50:44 PM »
So we headed out for the weekend. After a little tuning on the boat I think I have come to 2 conclusions. The impeller is to big and I need a larger carb. Anyways Saturday was nice, Sunday and Monday were quite windy so we spent most of the day in the gorge. Tuesday was absolutely beautiful with flat water and a very slight breeze to keep things from getting to hot. Hopefully we can make it back out 1 more time before the season is over.

We will be staying in Laughlin but down in Needles with the boat. Were not to fond of the lake.

My wife wants to know why you would do that?

Haa haa.. Actually it was quite fun. Like I said it was not on a sit down Sea Doo but a stand up Yamaha Super Jet. We rode to Laughlin, stayed the night at Harrahs, n then rode back to Park Moabi where somebody picked us up. I have actually ridden every bit of river / lake from McIntyre in Blythe to as close as you can possibly get to the Hoover Dam on my Jet Ski. This was back when I was younger and had no kids. I guess its the same concept as why would you take a Harley out on a road trip? In my opinion stand up jet ski's are VERY fun to ride and dont get boring like the lame sit downs. BTW the stretch of river from Willow Beach up to the Hoover damn is incredible. The water is very cold but the canyon is impressive. Rounding the bend to look up at the dam is impressive and eerie all in the same time ( I did this before 9/11 and have since heard you can not get as close as you used to be able to). Anyways as to why would do that? I guess just to say I did it and actually had a ton of fun at the same time.

I rode my stand up jet ski from Havasu Springs to Laughlin in about 5 hours. In the boat from Davis Camp to London Bridge I would estimate it took 2 to 3 hours. Its a fun trip to make.

We do Seether, Linkin Park, Pantera, Korn. Then to get my wife dancing its Timbaland or Flo Rider. You can never go wrong with Bob Marley. 4 6x9's n a small 4 channel amp plugged into n ipod does the trick. You can hear it even when the motor is runnin if you pay close enough attention.

Cruising by the casinos is a kick in the pants. Water is pretty cold because it comes out of the bottom of mojave, if you can handle that its amusing for a trip. We like to gamble so we stay in the casinos and drive down to needles to launch. The water is much warmer down there.

Thanks for the info Skip. I will be giving Brian a call in the near future to.

Speaking of that motor do you know where the timing ended up? I got n honest 55mph @ 4300 rpm on the gps out of it going up river in laughlin that was wide open. Seems to me that boat should be pushing 70 or so n closer to 5000. Only thing I have done is gotten the headers coated, changed the oil, n adjusted the idle screw. Maybe I got some crap gas I will try 100 ll n see if that spruces it up over the 91 octane.

Does your boat have super trapps in the headers? if so I think i saw you launching on sunday at topock we were launching at the same time.

Nope we launched in Bullhead on Sunday. Was only in the gorge on Saturday. If ya came through the 5 mph zone on Saturday we were anchored on the little sandbar there towards the bottom. Here is a better pic.
