It's a Black Rat Snake, Harmless when there small but when they start getting bigger like this one they draw blood when they bite with there sandpaper like teeth and they usually don't bite but him being corner in that bird nest box with a full belly he was snippy and wanted to sleep it off, You can see his stuffed belly, He eat a almost full grown pigeon and 3 eggs.

I always liked snakes BUT not when they are eating my pets and more importantly when they are eating our baby pets that Sandy has been raising  But I realized today that Sandy is more concerned about Distance from her bed then distance from her baby birds, This is how I figured this out today..  

It's hot early here, hi 80's, snakes get active here first heat spell, Been having Birmingham Roller Pigeons disappearing from inside the Pigeon coop, Had a haunch, today I saw the pigeons freaking out in there outside cage, almost all our out in it, the outside coop connects onto the inside, in other words, there freaking to get out. I quickly walk towards the barn to look inside, On my way there is a water pail on the side of the driveway with the garden hose in it as i walked past the hose it coiled and I screamed like a girl, was a 4 foot black snake drinking from the pail of water we leave there for the peacocks and chickens that roam free, Well after a few seconds calming down I see the pigeons are still freaking out so I walk into the barn and sure enough there's a solid 5 footer resting on the Pigeons main row of nesting boxes stretched out with a giant lump a third of the way down from it's head. I knew it was the size of the white and black almost full size "Squekker" (name for fledgling pigeons) That Sandy was just bragging about because its from our best rolling best looking pair and we had hi hopes for. I ran for the camera, Sandy, My hook and gloves.

Ran into the house say to Sandy "Your not going to bummed by the snake drinking the fresh water you just changed but your going to be pissed about the pigeon the snake in the barn just eat" I won't repeat what my Lady said but you get an idea in the pic of her standing in front of the box on the quad that the snake is in.      on how she felt about it.

I thought for sure she would want me to catch and release it up the river cottage like we have before but when I suggested it she asked "The same place you left the others go?" Yes I say , In the hole in the big stump right outside the cottage, well "Don't you think thats a little close to our beds up there" I lol at say it's outside and on the other side of the building, "That's still to close" so Where do you want it, Well again refer to pics, she had me drive it to the very end of our property here, down over the hill on the other side of the creek so it would still be safe on our property but far enough from her bed and if it comes back it will go back to the barn and not lost and end up in her cottage bed, well I'm still lol and love her for her caring but safe goofy ass way she lives and let's live. Just had to share the story of part of my day. RR

Going "Up The River" for the w/e, We already opened up and finished most spring cleaning along with all the planting of vegies/flowers/yard work and since  all my boats and docks are still at home in pieces so I'm going to work on a koi pond/waterfall/walkway up to the future hot tub site on the side of the Cottage.

 Believe it or not I really enjoy gardening especially water gardens but of course I take it more extreme then most so this will be the third year I been working on it. I hope/plan on having the big bottom pond rubber lined this year and most the plumbing in and done with the big boulders set but most the Planting in and around won't happen till this time next year.

I enjoy working on it first thing in the morn on sat/sunday for a couple hours every w/e so it's slow going..

Anyone else garden?? Or how do you wear off your w/e hangovers??..   ...   RR

We are looking forward to your visit and don't bother Your Pops and hassle with the Jon Boat you/us just use mine if My Baja not done by then, We have more fun in this little beater then most would imagine, I put it together for a fishing boat but we use it for everything. Great on gas for a boat and with 28 dollar props that change in minutes I let most use it with no worry after a little instruction so your good.  Roy.

I'm down, where are you thinking? There's some sweet deals in the Bullhead City/Ft Mohave area.

I highly suggest investing in water front property it has been increasing in value and demand and has not fallen in price or demand like other real estate has. Definitely look into the laws and regulations about what you can and can not do tho, If it's in a flood way for flood plane you may not be able to build and there are regulations on how much you can remodel/add-on/rebuild and the regulations have been getting tighter and strict if not totally illegal.

But we love it and turned out to be a great investment so I say go for it.    Roy

How many of you where hopeing for naughty pic's, WRONG.   Took these pic's over the w/e of this HUGE beaver, I know he's at least 50 ponds, I seen him out of the water and you can see his full body better in r/l in the water when he swims by then these pics show, These pic's don't do him justice of size either but he's big, I see them every morning and evening and he rules, Others just coward from him  cause he's double the size of most.

There pretty cool to watch in the evening, Sit on the deck and watch them usually swim close to shore from there dens, On the river Beavers can't Dam so there dens have to be able to take more water level changes that they can't control so they usually make dens in dug out holes and rocks on the river banks with multiple entrances and exits at different level. They come out of the dens at evening go eat and play beaver games all night, They get real noisy when dark. And go to there dens in the morning.

In the pics you can see the island, A lot of them swim to that island early evening right before sunset and sometimes we can see there tree's there taking down fall, There not big tree's but it's fun to watch well drinking a beer, They swim past, swim across to the island walk up the beach into the brush and after awhile you keep an eye on the tree's if you see one shaking or starting to lean then it falls, another 5, 10, 15 minutes later they come outta the beach with a limb and swim it back the same way they came, At night and in the winter they get bolder and have taken out tree's all around the cottage so we don't plant tree's and let most wild ones grow, we just adapt and watch, We enjoy watching the wild life more then killing it.

The pic of the deck has "The Bev" in the water in the back ground and the pic of "The Big Rock" you can just barley see him taking that branch under the rock, That Rock has many holes/tunnels/dens in around and under, 3 years ago there was a pair of Otters that lived there a full summer but where gone the next spring and never seen again???.

BTW,, They absolutely love left over cooked sweet corn with or without the corn on the cob, I think they might like the cob more the way they eat it.

What kind of wild life you guy's deal with?.       Roy.

All depends on the boat, how it's loaded, Plan on stopping? Real skinny water runners will actually skip over ground from pool to pool to keep going, rough on equipment but defintetlny a good time. Edited to Add: Don't try this at home, these boats are all aluminum with teflon or steel plates on the bottom and built especially for extreme shallow (Sometimes no water) water, You will trash your fiberglass boats doing this. (Had to clear my conscience   )..   RR

I just went thru most my pics and can't find one of a jet pontoon, thought for sure I had some, I'll get ya some. There are a few I see regularly.

 The Allegheny river here is about 6 feet over summers normal low, Kinzu lake above is max full and the dam is wide open with T-Storms forecasted for almost every day for the next week so the boat pics i take in the near future will prob be still tied to there docks but going down river to there doom over the next dam to be crumbled in a flooded rage, Tis the season. Does it every year but people (newbs) still put there docks and boats in early and leave.

 And we all know how laws and regulations are passed because of a few stupid people so there's talks about tightening up laws/regulations against docks and river front land owners around here..Ok Rant on Pause for now,, I'll get ya some pics later.. Roy
