« on: February 09, 2009, 02:53:33 PM »
hey poverty, i just accquired a 71 -73??? not too sure, 18ft Kona and there are no badges on it, so if you get a run made I would totally be into a set- For any other kona owners- my new project has no serial stamp on the back but it does have a badge pop riveted in by forward reverse lever that says JRS Fiberglass unlimited.  Is that the Kona deal- If I am not mistaken Jerry Baker owned and started Kona with a partner??? which could be the "R" in JRS-  any thoughts????

Boat Showcase / Re: First Jet Boat...1973 Hondo. Need a little help.
« on: January 25, 2009, 05:46:38 PM »
congrats on the new hondo, I am in the middle of doing a full restore etc, on the same style Hondo, if it is like my boat it should have something very similar to a southwind bottom.  They are very tunable and you can make it run pretty hard for a v bottom.  If you have any questions feel free to hit me up and I can share whatever info I know-

Well-  the boat was running but I bought a new MSD distributor, and some other little goods to get rid of the points deal, and in the midst of putting the new distributor in, I thought I would clean up some of the wiring  :banghead:  so now I am just trying to put it back togather- I had to stop my self from the full rewire route-  yet-   but at any rate that is where Im at-

Chaz-
Is El cap cool with little hot rod boats,  I didn't think they were too fond of headers???

hey beav-
The olds are solid power plants but you want to keep the RPM low- they are real good at pumping all the oil up stairs, but lack the ability to get it back to where it needs to be- I have a good friend that has funneled countless dollars into his olds to make it a good reliable motor- nothing outrageous- if it comes down to a rebuild you might want to consider switching the powerplant up to a chevy or ford- I think you will be money ahead in the long run-  Just my .02- PM me if you would like my buddies number and you can pick his brain on the olds and goods and bads that go with it-

Engine Mechanical / Electrical / Re: MAx RPM
« on: May 09, 2008, 09:26:30 AM »
I have not been into the pump yet, is it stamped on it to were I can look down the nozzle up back up the intake to see it???  It is and early Dominator 12-s, the guy I bought the boat from had records of motor, trailer, etc, but nothing about the pump-

Engine Mechanical / Electrical / MAx RPM
« on: May 09, 2008, 01:22:06 AM »
I have  a mild 454 with a torker 2 manifold and the most I can get is 4000, maybe 4100 RPM, does this sound legit or do you think there could be other issues?  Last boat would run 5100 RPM, different pump and a performer intake- thoughts???

back to the headers, Have them built and go 8 into 1-  it is probably one of the sickest things you will ever hear, and I can guarentee you will have the only boat on the water to sound like it >:D
