That looks like the crap I did when I was little... that and rolling down the street in an office chair holding onto a self-propelled lawn mower

When you need a refill on that CO2 let me know  ;)

Jet Pumps / Free spinning...
« on: December 23, 2007, 09:41:16 PM »
How much pressure should it take to turn the shaft of a berk, free spinning?

It seems it's taking quite a bit of strength to turn the shaft in my project Eliminator... Every other jet i've played with seems to turn quite easily, but this one is pretty tight. It moves, just not as loose as i'm used to.  There's no grinding, and the shaft looks clean... eg. no debris.

Is this a sign of bearing issues, or do I need to work out more?

Projects / Eliminator Bubble Mini-project
« on: December 18, 2007, 09:41:29 PM »
So after a few years of being done with “project” boats I found this little beauty!  It has been sitting for years, but the hull is in fantastic condition. I’m waiting to see what’s in the engine!

It’s a 1978 Eliminator Bubble, 4-bolt 454, Berk. JC, Diverter, ride plate etc…
Someone was racing it at one point as #565 “Running Wild” It still has the kill switch etc.

The kicker: when I pulled the interior I found an empty Miller light can, a bottle of tanning oil and three porn mags… still in the paper bag, although moldy, all from the early 80’s.

The premise was to keep this a good budget project.  I’m going to keep this baby for local trips and leave the Carrera out at the river. My dream is to get both on the water so I can stand on the beach and force myself to decide which one I want to run  ;D

If you guys can help me out I need the following:

-Used interior… preferably matching! Or a reference to anyone that can do it on a budget
-A place to paint the trailer OR a someone that can shoot it cheap
-Used steering cable or assy, rotary.
-Used steering wheel
-Used (operable) diverter cable

I'll keep ya'll updated!

Last Sat I had the motor pulled for a little freshening up. I found a milkshake, most likely from a blown head gasket it appears. I have to make this thing run pump gas, and new springs, valves, etc etc is going in… I’m not taking any chances!

WTB / Steering Cable / Assy.
« on: December 18, 2007, 08:54:47 PM »
Looking for a steering assy with cable, or just the cable for a rotary system.

Needs to be long enough for a 78' Elim. Bubble.

Also looking for a cheap steering wheel!

I heard someone say "Neapolitan", but then you'd have to get the interior re-done in brown.  O0
