Now I keep looking at applications and wonder if I need to spend the cash I don't want to spend
I don't even want to know what they cost, how much is the Procharger version you install?
I did miss speak about my QFT blow through carb, of course they have throttle blades I was thinking about standard carbs with the choke blade that I don't have.
I'm still comfortable with my set up. Procharger tech was honest with me about it. I run this boat more like a drag boat than anything else. I'll find out this weekend what it can do.

My wife is bummed she can't be there, everytime she gets in our boat on a nice warm day all she wants to do is be naked
The first time I took her there I did explain the rules of the river, at some point everyday outdoor displays of nudity are mandatory

Where are your bowl bolts? I can't see in the pic if they all broke off. I don't see how you could have had excessive pressure at 4800rpm, besides excessive pressure would have broken it in a different way, maybe, saw a pic from someone here that showed the bowl breaking in half.

If all the bolts did break were they grade 8 or better?

I just had a good conversation with a Procharger tech. Typically in a marine application they don't run the BOV due to the lower rpm's we're running. I'm at mid 5k on the rpm's. If I change my set up to get closer to 6500 rpm's then he suggested a BOV would be a necessary addition. If I were to install a BOV now he explained I would be a little sluggish to start and it would take longer to take off. When I have another $10k to buy the heads I want and completely change out and set back the intake, suction housing, shaft, inducer, impeller and oh yea this would be the time for a new gel coat then I'll take a close look at the BOV again.
I love the instant hit I get when I go WOT. The only time I cruise is the first 10 minutes to get the oil temp up. Then it's really slow, wide open for as long as I dare, about 6 to 10 seconds or so. I looked at the time on some video I did and I'm pretty much at max speed in 6 seconds. Then do it all over again and again and again and ...
I'll be at the river for the 21' jet boat extravaganza & race on the weekend of Oct 20. I'm going to break out my Cobra for the afternoon full up jet-o-vator run of about 8 to 10 boats. 5150 Whiteboy knows more about who will be there.

The M-3 I have is designed to run between 5 - 12 psi. I bought a pulley from Procharger that is 13 psi. I've had this for about 6 years. Several new and bigger Prochargers have been designed since.
There is a significant difference between an automotive & marine application. My intercooler is water cooled, the automotive set ups I've looked at online are aircooled. Mine will have a much cooler charge simply because I have fresh water running through all the time.
I'm guessing when in a car and you want to slow down you would prefer a quick slow down.
When in a boat at high speed I've been taught never back off completely, always bring it down gently by backing off the throttle. Some guys have told me their experiences of the boat jumping sideways due to the reverse pressure that can happen at the jet suction point. This is why I looked into the jet-a-way and pop off valve. I've decided not to do either because I plan on keeping this at or below 100mph.

« on: October 04, 2012, 08:19:00 AM »Is that what they told you.. ha all blowers work with them, I would try one it will lower your IAT ( intake air temp) and with the higher boost level it wont try to bend your throttle blades when you lift off. We use Vortech blowers in our kits, but we do sell a Procharger setup and we have played around with a few R1-R2 race blowers. That make 17-19 psi, and they all had bbbig bypass valves.

They didn't tell me this, it's my opinion. I googled the BOV and read about them. I don't see it in my application. Besides my intercooler is fed cold water right from the jet, I don't see the need to try and cool the air more than it is now.

When I had an Eliminator I wanted to keep the engine covered as well. When I bought headers that would fit under to let the engine breath I got a considerable jump in rpm and speed. Logs restrict the air flow, if you want the rest of what you doing to reach its potential you gotta let the engine breath.

My hoses were blowing off because they were a quick cheap version I needed last time I made a change. When they came off all I could do was idle, too rich to run without boosted air flow.
Procharger's won't work with any kind of bypass, boosted air flow at all times. I would be surprised if these hoses worked themselves loose.

Decided to push it. Called Procharger and the next pulley is 13 psi so what the hell let's go with it and see what happens
At 9 psi and my pump set up the way it is 5200rpm at 85mph (GPS) is about it. If I was turning 6500rpm then the boost increase might not be wise.
The paint on my intercoooler was coming off so I decided to remove it all. I think it looks better now.
Occasionally I would blow my hoses off the system so I went with blue turbo hose and heavy duty clamps.

I would like to suggest Saturday afternoon so we can make a spectacle of ourselves in front of everybody on the river. Besides that I won't be leaving until early Saturday morning for my 300 mile drive to the river. My son is playing Hart High Varsity football Friday night.

I'm pretty positive I'll be to lazy to break out my 21 Cobra at dawn to run with you guys, but maybe. I'll need a waiver on the fatty class cause at 6'3" I'm only 200lbs. Love my Cobra, it cruzes so nice, will run a wild 55mph all day long.
