Engine Mechanical / Electrical / Re: Ball valve question?
« on: March 23, 2009, 08:11:17 PM »
160 is good, I would actually try opening up the valve. You'll probably find the temp doesn't move. If you're paranoid like me and 2Sav, run a pressure releif valve set at 15 or so with the overflow to another overboard dump. I'm afraid of milkshakes too, and for $75 bucks or so for everything you need to add it in, cheap insurance.

Thanks about the Moo boat. Pretty much done. Tunnel ram tomorrow, and some minor touches, she's finished.

I'll cya on the lakes this summer probably, I'm kinda hard to miss.

Jet Pumps / Re: Panther jet?
« on: March 23, 2009, 08:01:00 PM »
You'd be surprised what Tom has done with panther pumps. Not popular because you don't have loads of options, parts, factory and aftermarket available for them. Kinda makes them speshul. As far as 500HP, with an energizer kit and a good rebuild of it, you should be perfectly fine. A conversion, well, that's another major undertaking. I'll wait for Tom to post pics od what's involved with THAT. He's the expert there.

That's where mine runs. I'd leave it be. According to Tom at JBP, no way you can get too much pressure unless you have another problem. I ran a pressure releif valve from him JIC, but ran my ball valve wide open. To my knowledge the pressure valve has not opened yet, but I've only run with chebbies and noone close enough to tell me if the dump is spitting or not.  ;D

Sorry 2sav, it was THERE!

Ray , lookin real good bro ;)

But i cant figure out what that blue thing is in the back ???

 ;D

Steve, the Blue thingy is the part that went in on top of the golf club and the gold thingy.

I think the gold thingy is supposed to keep the parts into the blue thingy, I'm not sure, but it did kill 1 chebby pretty handily. Might been a fluke, but you weren't watching anyway.

How did you nearly sink the boat?

Joe

Wellll, I kinda forgot to tighten 1 hose clamp, apparently, the hose that goes from the front of the intake to the ball valve before the header T. When I romped on it pretty hard chasing Crewcheif and Nordi's friend Jay, it came off, and the faster I went, the more water I was pumping into the back of the boat, thank goodness the kids noticed a lot of water rolling around their feet, problem was, I was in the middle of the lake and went ashore PRONTO. Took the bilge pump awhile to pump it out, lol. At least an easy fix, but she was REALLY full of water, pretty darn close if you ask me,  :banghead:

Blued the headers a bit, as they were running dry, obviously, and scared the crap out of everyone involved, lol. Learned a valuable lesson there. Double and triple check everything BEFORE you get in the middle of the lake and run it like an idiot! Boat ran great the rest of the time, save for a little leaky water outlet cover that we fixed while there.

All in the interests of learning! It's funny now, but wasn't at the time.

What about this summer? I was looking forward to taking a 2Sav beating!  If you can ;D

Seriously, don't fret about it. They make new blocks and cranks every day, and they get cheaper.  'sides, it's what you have now that is important, so get it running! We can all do the motor for motor thing later Bro.

Glen might have a dizzy for you, BTW, sounds like it mighta been sunk once or twice tho. ;D

Well, the tunnel's going on Tuesday, if I planned my week right. Also lined up a guy to permanently name the boat. Any last minute suggestions? So far I'm tossed between, "That Damn Cow Boat", "Udder Nonsense" (Udder Mayhem is growing on me), and just plain "Mooooo". There's also "A Mooooving Experience", "Moo-Haul", I'm worrying myself more over this stuff than anything else on the boat.

Anyone find themselves in or near the PHX area and need this sort of thing done, I can hook you up. The guy works for me sooo, I know where to find him. Does FANTASTIC work, all freehand. He makes all of our signs for the store now (Not that he likes it, but....)

Very nice boat! You'll have fun with that, for sure. And Yellow...... I LIKE!

Good luck with it. I'd just run it as is for now. Winter you can upgrade, upgrade, upgrade. Just don't tear the floors out.....

Anybody have the theme song for Gilligan's Island?

I'm trying Glen, really, but what part (Other than the horn, which looks useable) do you need from this thing?

Ray

BUT!!!!, and this is sick, not to mention illegal probably, but might be kinda fun when you're done with it to tow it out and sink it for giggles!

Wild, just wild. Between my father, all of his brothers and my mother (the 59 dodge), and her brothers, rode in almost every one of those cars with no child seat!(Cept a Cobra, never sat in one of those). What retro!

I had a parent of one of my late wife's students just send me this. It kinda fits in with the "over analyzing" post I did a a month or so ago. Click it and bear in mind this is a parent of 2 disabled children my wife used to teach that sent it to me.

I know B-rad, Chromey, Forkedup, Omar, as well as me and many others have had some serious challenges the past few months. This kinda puts things into perspective.

I knew it wasnt steves as soon as I saw the price....steve is smart enough to know his boat isn worth $7500!

True, but where it's at is in or near Paradise Valley, the snob community where all the pro players live, Britney supposedly has a house, etc, etc. So it's really selling for $50 Obama dollars for the rest of us.

Actually, the last couple falls here have been pretty doggon hot soooo.

Well, the good thing is that there will be plenty of trucks around to help launch so the RV'er don't have to up-root every time.

And 'sides that, Cheif seems to know how to launch everywhere and not even get his tires wet!

I, for one, volunteer my truck for service if this comes about and I'm able to do it.
