Think it would be easier to just buy new ones with the baffles.  I can put my old ones on ebay i just seen them sell a used pair for $100 not to bad. That would help me recoupe some of my $ spent for the new ones,

 B end

« on: August 12, 2007, 12:17:08 PM »
I sold a set of Ga heads on eBay, like $240 or something rebuilt. Good heads. Might be a difference on the Olds between stick and auto trans, I dunno, I seriously doubt there's a difference. Wouldn't make sense to have two different types of Ga heads...

No the G a heads are off a 1972 442 and a manual tranny. Should be a good deal. I HOPE. He wont answer my email for the shipping cost, i just hope i dont get raped if i am the actual buyer.

There is no difference.

From i get so far is that the automatics are small valve and the manual is big valve for the muscle cars. Sound about right? i got this off the olds website. I found a set of heads on Ebay and just want to get the right ones. G a w30

no baffels / oh and no water in the oil

what do you have as a breather on your valve cover, if any. Could be plugged.  If you have a pvc valve it will do it. it builds up pressure and it has to go somewhere.

When it happened to me. i brought it straight home changed the oil took it back out and tried it again.

No luck same problem so i took back home changed the oil again and changed the breathers on the valve covers.

Took it back to the lake and it ran like a raped ape ;D

My next trip was not so good. The motor said uncle :( filled it up with water again. took it home pulled the top end off and two cracked heads. Now im on a mission.

I also wonder if it was my logs that dumped all that water in my motor? is that possible.

Im getting ready to do a rebuild on my 455 olds. Depending on what the machine shop say's its al'ready.30 over and i wanna stay right there if i can. Gonna grind the crank and add a nice cam, i might go rollers but not sure right at the moment. Thats about it. Why get crazy on building a 455 when its still a 455? Now on my 454 project im gonna go nutz or should i say bankrupt ;D  good luck, i will follow this maybe i will get some ideas here too ;D
Oh ya i forgot to add , installing restricters too. Its a must.

I'm a little waisted right now, thisa is going to take me some time   >:D

Yea, it can be welded. If you do go to a BBC, get either Hardin Marine or Nicson engine mounts, you won't have to move the stringer feet!, make your self a pair of 1/2" spacers, one for each side of the engine, for the front mount, and that BBC will be in.  ;)

Thanks, but this boat is going back to the 455 olds, after i rebuild it and find a set of heads. Now the other boat i just picked up has the 454 in it but it to needs a rebuild and a pump kit. Has not ran in the last nine years. It has the nicson motor mounts also ;D. So i can weld it, great that will save me another $175 what is it aluminum?

Thanks for the help, when i start this pump kit i will probably be on the phone and on this forum more than i am in the boat. First time wanna do it right ;D

2savage4you what brand of Olds 455 engine mounts and pump does your boat have?   ???   ;)

Hardin Marine engine mounts, the front mount broke. Can it be welded? and the pump is a Jucuzzi WJ that was just swapped out last summer with the Energizer kit from American Turbine. ;D

You guys would be surprised with all the alcohol related deaths/injurys we have here on the water. Not all of our news hits the paper. It brings bad publicity to Bullhead. So i have heard.
