 OK beerjet. Like everyone said, WJ = good, But theres NO WAY that boat had a YJ in it !!!

The WJ is a good pump, no reason to replace it.  Now if you had a YJ I would recommend either replace it or get an energizer kit for it.

 X2,  If its a WJ and your looking for a good reliable pump with reasonable performance, leave it.  If its a YJ, and you want anykind of performance out of it, rip it out.

 I wish there was somewhere closer to me where I could get E85. The closest place is a 100mi round trip, in the wrong direction.  If they open a station closer within the next year, I will be running it in my new motor.

Just a thought, in your first post you said the boat feels like it gained 200lbs and you could hardly lift it like you used to.  Now I see that you just had the motor rebuilt.  Is the motor back in the boat ??  With no motor in there the bow of the boat will be way heavier then it was with a motor in there. 

I'd love to! Really I would. Been fighting my inner self on this since this thing even came up. But this thing came with sooo much new stuff. Pistons, cams, intakes, carbs, ignitions, much more. All of it would go in the trash or on Craigs list, for one. Two BBF blower intakes alone would cost me well over 2k!!! Let alone the drive pulleys, idlers.....Would be cool as hell, I agree, but I gotta finance this thing! 

Looks like you're in the right arena though!

 I have to admit, your right about that Ray. BBF blower stuff is really pricey compared to the deals out there on the Chevy stuff.  Thats why this ones gettin a Chevy (propless hangs his head in shame  ).  No mighty BBF in this one. 

 But theres still the Daytona sitting in line back there. Maybe by then I'll win the Loto, buy some of the Kaase "Boss 9" heads and a blower for that one too.

 LOL, It is sitting on the kitchen counter, now.  I moved it right after I took the pics.    Way to dirty out in the garage for something like that.

 BTW,   You only live once, right.  If this boat even tries to be slow I swear it will get injection, more compression, and some real "fuel". 

I have a 1977 Brendella Tunnel Pickle and mine is a jet too. Oh and it's not black... I'd attach a photo if I could figure out how.

 I did some work on mine again.

 I got the hole cut for the intake.  For some reason I was able to get the cleanout cover out past the transom and still have 2" of hull behind the cutout (didnt need to cut through the transom).




 There was alot of cracking in the flowcoat on the floors (mainly on the keel).  I decided to see how deep it went.  grabbed the grinder and went to work,  the flowcoat down there was around 1/4" thick or more in places.    I guess they didnt care much about weight.  Unfortunately the cracking is down into the glass, not sure how far.  But it needs to be taken care of.  Lots of grinding and glassing to do in there. 


 Then I decided to check the sponsons.  There are some places where the fuel tanks where rubbing on the floors out there (circled in red).  They rubbed almost half way through the hull. Brendella pickle, you better check this on yours.  The back brackets on the tanks mounted to the outside wall of the tunnels, letting the tanks move around just enough to do this to the bottom.  Its the verry back of the tanks.     While I was looking out there I saw a funny looking line on the bottom. Grabbed the grinder again. Found a big azz crack in the glass. didnt go through the flowcoat, and cant see in from underneath.  Must be an old repair to the bottom, either way it needs to be be taken care of too. 

 
 At this point I have to quote Ralph Brunt from his getting ready for paint thread (words of wisdom !!)

WARNING...if you have a boat in this bad of shape do NOT try to repair it.... take a chain saw to it and get another hull

Well I talked to one of the Brendella gurus and they told me the floor under the bow is there for strength (not just for the deck support).  Aparantly it keeps the boat from splitting down the middle (we dont want that).   Looks like I'm going to be doing some major work under there.  That floor piece is under the fronts of the stringers  .   I'm going to need to sit and think about this one for a bit.  I realy wasnt planning on replacing good stringers just because of a floor piece under the bow, maybe I could cut it out around the stringers and notch the new piece to fit that way.  I dont know at this point, maybe I'll gut the whole thing and start fresh.

 What did I get myself into, again. 

So it looks like the part is called switch box assembly. anyone ever had this go bad? or better yet have one laying around? $452.00 is alot of coin to not have it be the problem.. gt you out there?

 Post up a pic of your switch box (and part# if possible).  I have some extra stuff around here somewhere from when I was trying to get one running.

Man... That floors NASTY! Wonder what dumbasss bought that boat!       Id do it right and check for rot as well. I thought my floor was in decent shape until we found that mess under the carpet!

 LOL, This dirty guy is the owner, and he took the bad news about his "new boat" like a man.  He jumped right in there and chopped it out.  When you going to start a build thread for this thing.  I got PICTURES !!

I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. 

 The last of the foam is out. 

 The pressure washer (aka, the porta water jet) was a HUGE help. 

 

 

 Looks like I have some more work to do under there though.  Theres a false floor up there, I drilled a hole at the bottom of it, and there was water under it (big suprize). 

 

 Also that foam was giving alot of support to the bow, its a bit flexible now.  I'm going to do 2 bulkheads under there and change the deck support piece to 2 pieces (one over each tunnel).  Thats the way the Daytona is and its much stronger.  Like this.


 I'm curious though, do you guys think the false floor is doing anything under there (strength wise) other then giving a place to put the deck support ??  Do you think its needed, if I do the 2 bulkhead idea ??
