Lower River / Re: Palo Verde to Martinez
« on: May 31, 2017, 08:50:08 PM »
Just downloaded a map with river mile markers. Looks like it's 44 miles from the Hippie Hole to Martinez.
Not to bad if your not deep in the throttle but definitely a risk ha ha.

Have stayed in them and I like the ones on the left of the launch ramp, the one to the right is old and kinda tight think that one is f1. The others are great.

Lower River / Re: Blythe shallow areas
« on: May 29, 2017, 01:09:19 PM »
I've been up and down the river for two days now. McIntire Park up to the dam. I hooked up with some folks that know the river real well. Lucky for me because there is a lot of maneuvering back and forth to avoid sand bars. Hopefully today the river traffic will be lighter.
U can learn the channel fast in lower water and able to see the sand bars better, it's stressful the first run or 2 but after that your golden. That's how I learned at 16 or 17 years old

I always worry about going down river. In the case the boat breaks, you can't float back to camp lol

I'd say you are around 4500 lbs. just a guess. Average trailer weight is around 800 to 1200 lbs.

Guessing with fuel and gear as well

First off, I did some searching first before posting. Didn't find much.

On to my obviously noobie question, what do y'all do to navigate over shallow areas going up river? Water level was up pretty good this past weekend so I went past the sandbar a bit and still went over some areas that looked sketchy to me. Obviously I avoid areas with buoys on submerged trees and ripples coming off of submerged rocks, and that rocky point sticking off of waterwheel but what about clear open areas that just open up to shallows?

Our family stays in Blythe and I'm getting a little bored of just going up to the sandbar and back. I've been up to the water tower a few times but that's about it. I'm lookin to burn some gas and do some good long floats downriver.

Interior / Re: Wood anchor inserts to hold battery tray
« on: May 15, 2017, 08:53:08 AM »
Hello everyone,

Does anyone know a type of wood anchor inserts I can use to hold my battery tray. The screws holding my battery tray stripped out completely. It was  fixed before the first time the screws stripped out by using bigger screws and it just strippped out again. Maybe some type of wood anchor inserts will fix this problem. Thanks in advance!
Only thing I think may work is to epoxy up the old holes and use a toggle style so u don't keep putting holes in your floor.

Engine Mechanical / Electrical / Re: 454 Acceleration issue
« on: May 15, 2017, 08:45:35 AM »
Thanks everyone! Is it worth it to upgrade or is the quadrajet a decent carb? My buddy that is much more knowledgeable about engines says to go grab a Edelbrock or Holley but from reading I've done it sounds like the quadrajets were used on a lot of applications

Sent from my iPhone using SoCal Jet Boats
I'd definitely get a holley 750 or even quick fuel makes a nice carb a lot of guys use.

WTB / Re: Lake stuff
« on: May 12, 2017, 04:27:43 PM »
I'm particularly looking for a water ski that's 70-72".  It's a big ski but I'm a big guy.  I'm 6'5 235lbs.

I'm also looking for tubes, ski ropes and life jackets.  Basically anything you all are looking to sell for a family lake trip.  Please PM me with anything you're wanting to get rid of that's fun for the lake!  Thank you!

Damn thats to bad! Both of them are the ideal boat I would be looking for. The ones I have seen on craigslist don't match up to anything like yours. If you see something nice feel free to shoot them my way. Im ready to get rid of mine and pick one up.
What's your budget ?

Engine Mechanical / Electrical / Re: Inline fuel filter
« on: May 10, 2017, 07:06:03 PM »
Wanted some input on fuel filters I have a 93 commander with 454. I am running two canister Type fuel filter coming from each tank but it appears it's hard to prime each tank after the boat sits. I am thinking of eliminating those filters and run the hoses from each tank to my electronic valve. then after both hoses go into the valve they leave into one hose so that's where I run a small inline filter.

Sent from my iPhone using SoCal Jet Boats mobile app
That's how I have mine set up, from the tanks to the valve to inline fuel filter to water fuel separator to fuel pump. My filter is glass and has a changeable filter so u can see when it's time.

Boats For Sale / Re: Looking for Open Bow
« on: May 10, 2017, 06:17:18 AM »
I may not be to familiar with the proper terms of what it is I'm looking for. Right now i have a 21' Southward that seats 4. The boat has just become to small and I'm looking for something I can spread out in a little better (open bow). Im not exactly sure if that means I'm looking for a day cruiser or a jet boat. I  just like the jet vs a prop being that my go to spot is Avi and it better fits the water conditions. Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks Mike
I have a 21 open bow jet and it has plenty of room for my family and all out stuff. I have had 8 people on the boat and it's been no problem.
