I'll get the casting numbers. Can you tell if these are open or closed chambered heads

Sent from my SPH-L720 using SoCal Jet Boats mobile app
I'm sorry for thread jacking but what's the difference between open and close chambered heads and what are the pros/cons of either?

Was going to pick up one of these unless people have had issues with them. Motor stand from pep boys http://www.pepboys.com/product/details/454717/00739

I have 2 engine stands and only need 1 if you're interested in saving some money...  Located in Highland so the cost of gas might negate any savings but let me know if you're interested...  Make an offer

Make sure you get uncorrected HP numbers.

Also, a bigger/heavier boat will need a larger cut impeller.

Cheers,

Joe

What's the difference between corrected and uncorrected HP?  And why would he want that instead of the other?

The No Wake Zone / Re: Fuel Valves?
« on: July 23, 2014, 08:18:47 PM »
I had the standard brass manual tank valve but found that the openings were very restrictive and I didn't want to hinder flow so I came up with this...  2 ball valves into a T...  Believe it or not this has less moving parts to break than the brass valve that I'm replacing, just trying to keep it simple

Then why would you need a fuel/water seperator?  I have one currently but am redoing my whole fuel system and I'm not planning on connecting the seperator...  Is it really needed?

The No Wake Zone / Re: What did you do to your boat today?
« on: June 30, 2014, 10:34:48 AM »
I decided to make my own fuel tank selector since I couldn't find one that was bigger than 5/16"...  Now my whole fuel system will be a constant 3/8" from tanks to carb

How big is the engine? How much power

Right now it's just a 400hp Pontiac 400...  But I plan on switching to a 700hp BBC in a few seasons and not sure if that 830 cfm will be enough

I recently picked up a Holley 830 cfm race carb, how much HP will that handle?  I'm wondering if I should grab this in case I need a bigger carb when I upgrade my engine?

Redlands area. We had one, but pops decided to sell it for some unknown reason. I'm just trying to think ahead. Probably be a couple months or so before I pull it. Not leaking bad enough to worry about yet.
Mine is at my house in Highland so just let me know when you're ready and you can use it

Hulls / Re: Explain the different style of stringer lengths.
« on: June 14, 2014, 02:51:27 PM »
I'm no expert but my understanding is the stringers are the 2 board on the side of what you're calling your engine box...  So I'd say you have a 1/4 stringer boat and possibly a previous owner added the singe...  But IMHO it would be WAY BETTER to yank those out and run 2 new stringers all the way to the bow...  Which, as I understand it, would make it a full stringer
