The plan was to retire in 10yrs, and become the greeter at the Super Walmart in Bullhead. After visiting this site I might have to rethink this :P :P :P :P

No! Stick with your plan! That way you can be the first one to take a photo and post up the next freak that walks in.

I'm actually kind of jealous of your retirement plan. I was only aiming for a crossing guard or maybe a school bus driver.  8)

The No Wake Zone / Re: rotten foam
« on: August 31, 2009, 07:23:47 PM »
2500# boat, water weighs 62.4 lbs/ft^3. The math sez you need 40ft^3 of foam to keep it completely afloat after a "sinkage event". However as you start adding foam to a boat, then some of the boat doesn't go under, so then less of the boat is displacing water so...

Chit I dunno - I'd think you need 25 - 30ft^3 in order to keep the bow bobbin out of the water.  ???

Sheet rock saws - the longer the blade the better. Even a carpenter's hand saw. Jap pull saw for up alongside the hull and the foam.

Use whichever saw seems to work best for you and slice into the foam and make a grid 6"-12" size. As deep as you can. Then take a shovel or flat pry bar and start chopping. It is a balance between keeping the chunks as big and less messy, and making progress. Some places you will just have to make foam dust to get anywhere. Wear a bunny suit no matter what and a respirator.

Just one of the many fun resto tasks of owning an old jetboat!! Yeee Haaaa!

Boat Racing / Re: fuking tree huggers
« on: August 14, 2009, 09:01:40 AM »
I agree he is a pussy and a whiner and probably a metrosexual too. But that doesn't mean he is a tree hugger, although they do kind of travel together in packs.

Tree huggers aren't always pussies but pussies are always pussies and that guy is one. And pussies always have too much time on their hands so they use it to create problems for themselves and anyone who will let them intrude on their life.

But Lucky Stiff is right the best way to neutralize this pussy is to write a nice thank you letter to the paper giving praise to a great, all-American event that brought joy and excitement to a large crowd. Then he can go back to working with Hillary and find something else to whine about.

Here is the link to the Press Telegram website "contact us" page - there is a link for writing them a letter.

http://www.presstelegram.com/info

The email address for their "Letter to the Editor" department is: speakout@presstelegram.com

As long as you keep your letter clean and logical they will probably publish it - small papers love sheet like this because it gives them something to do.

Jet Pumps / Re: How do you read an impellar chart ?
« on: August 06, 2009, 09:53:52 AM »
So you loose HP due to the RPM change, I get it now. But It is hard to believe that this 185 HP motor couldn't turn the A impellar faster. It has 185 HP but is only using 162 HP, Why ? shouldn't it spin the A impellar just as fast ?, That is where I am confused, it is not as if the A impellar has a differeng gear ratio or gear reducer.

The different cuts are making small changes to both the amount of water the impeller moves/rev and the effective diameter at which the water mass is leaving the blades. These small changes have a big impact at the RPMS we are talking about. So using gear terms is sort of OK but it's a little different. The bigger the cut size (A bigger than C), the more water/rev AND the bigger the effective diameter. So for any given rpm, an A cut size creates a bigger torque load and power "need" than a smaller cut.

They are more like torque converters in an auto tranny.

WTB / Re: Glastron Carlson CV27
« on: August 05, 2009, 01:03:01 PM »
Continuing with my rant about morons and spelling and craigslist - I have learned that some people don't know what model Glastron they own. If I use that jaxed mash site, I can occasionally turn up more hits with "Glastron" and just the word "jet" than I can with the letters "CV". What I mean is they wrote up their CL ad just thinking they had a Glastron and a jetboat and that was it. So now I use both search strategies to make sure I'm giving myself the best chance at finding everything.

Now you would THINK an owner of a CV27 would know the model of their boat.. but :screwy:

And I wonder how many ads I miss that are sitting out in cyberland without the correct spelling of "Glastron"??

So if anybody posts on CList and manages to get Glastron spelled right and has "CV" or "jet" in their ad then I will have your back covered electro! At least until I find MY boat and quit looking!  ;D

I didn't realize that the clear hose with the cloth braid can handle higher temps. (You have them between your valve covers and the headers.) I thought they were basically cold, low press only.

Had to revive this thread. Just got an email from my proppy assed friend:

"You would be interested to know I had another McGiver adventure with the boat this weekend…

Boat was hard to start.  Eventually did start, but no acceleration action.  Broken throttle cable, 7 kids wanting to wakeboard, hmmm.   Shifter cable!

I swapped the shifter cable into action, opened up the little hole in the engine cover where a drink holder was, lashed an alumninum oar piece to the shifter on the transmission, and hired an engine room assistant!

Another one for the books!"

Did that. And not to blow up your theory, but I also have a bunch of parts and many tools at the bottom of Saguaro Lake as well,  ;D.

Ray

That's not an efficient location for them. They will not be easy to get at if you need them!!  :D
