Boat Showcase / Re: Thinking of buying 1st boat

IMO i would find a tunnel, tunnels are fast and can handle the rough. Look for a Daytona or gullwing (i prefer the Rouse) or a mod vee hull ( i prefer the SST). A guy just brought me a blown 19' Daytona yesterday that was immaculate. Im not sure what price range your looking for but im going to post it up on my site when he emails me pics. He was looking to get $16500 for it and it is worth every penny. That boat will do every bit of 80+mph.

The No Wake Zone / Re: Damn Whistle Blower
« on: July 09, 2010, 08:14:20 AM »
Fight fire with fire. Get your own whistle and blow it during practice and games. The kids won't know what to do and he will be forced to change his method.
I like this idea, just invite some of your friends over and you all sit outside and blow whistles. As lame as that sounds I think BP is on the right track with this one. Im more for walking across the street and strangling the coach with the whistle shoved down his throat and telling him to shut the flock up. But that usually just ends up costing me money and court dates. The whistle idea sounds cheaper, witch means more boat parts.

The No Wake Zone / Re: Using a transmission with a pump?
« on: July 08, 2010, 08:33:12 AM »
In the case of a jetboat you dont want to overdrive it you want to  underdrive it. By underdriving the pump it allows the motor to spin more RPM. Its only used in race applications. There is a Z-drive setup and theres one old racer i know that has is own contraption. I havent played with it yet but soon I hope to test with one in the new boat.

I would have to say the obvious that they were most likely drunk. Either they didnt see (or feel) him when they hit him or they were scared of the the man. That or they shouldnt own a flocking boat because anyone that ignorant should be grounded.

Jet Pumps / Re: Slapping at high speeds above 75MPH
« on: July 03, 2010, 06:50:43 PM »
The biggest problem with the late 70's Nordics are usually the bottom. Orville popped the boats out of the mold to soon and most of them have bad hooks in them. I just blue printed one this last winter. No matter what I did the boat would just porpose. At one point I put the ride plate 2 degrees below the keel, The boat rode awesome until about 70 then it would just slap violently like what your describing. It was fukin scary, but after we straightened out the bottom is rides smooth as glass. I dont know if you have ever looked at the bottom of your boat but it might be part of your problem. I one we did was hooked on one side and a huge rocker on the other. We build the bottom of the boat up an inch on one side.

Here is the latest fiasco, the wheels on the trailer are old school four blade Cragers. There 13 x 10s which take a 215/50/13 tire. If you dont understand what im talking about just call your local tire store and ask them for that size. At first all i could find was a slick racing tire at $230 a piece, but tire rack had some nice radials for $57 a tire. Still sort of expensive for a trailer but what is really the cost of looking cool. Anyway i got the tires mounted and balanced today, cleaned up and put back on.

We have most of the holes filled and the fiberglass work done. A little more fill tonight and we should be able to prime it tomorrow night. I have all of my pump parts i just need to drop it of at http://www.finneys.com/marine.html to get it powdercoated. My billet steering wheel and extended steering collom should be here next week along with my gas pedal.

Alright guys, nobody coughed up the cash for the Rogers soooo.... I guess i'll just have to build it. We already started to block it out, we were going to gel it but the paint is so damn thick were going to paint it. The boat has very few stress cracks in it and only a few chips. Were filling every single hole in the boat except the guages and steering. No buttons or switches will be seen anywhere. INTHERED is coming down this week to help get it together because otherwise it will never get done. I have the short block done on the twin turbo motor(pics coming soon) you guys dont get to see it until its a little further done.
