Projects / First jet boat project

Ive had this boat maybe 5 months now its 18ft not sure what hull it is i got it with bill of sale only i know its pre 73 cuz their is no HIN stamped on the hull anywhere. It hasnt been registered since 01. It has a 455 olds and a jacuzzi pump.. So far i ripped out all the old interior cocktail style seating old carpet.. replaced the wood flooring re glassed everything. All the seats were rotten. Found some plastic bucket seats and made all new seat mounts. Now it has 2 buckets and a rear bench im planning on re upholstering the seats. Ive laid new carpet. Got all the gauges working which i believe are hardin marine vintage gauges.. changed steering wheels & the exhaust to logs instead of bassets.

motor is bone stock 455 with KA heads and a mallory distributor.. runs real good. Im sure the jet could use some freshening up. Ive put it in elsinore once in november just to test. It will do 55 all day. Which im ok with for now. Haha.
Ive been on this forum for a few months now and this is my first actual post other than commenting or asking questions on others. I enjoy this forum real helpful and the people seem friendly and willing to help.  Feel free to give me an idea on what hull u think this is.

Wow! That was a fast response. Thank you! I kind of like it. Especially if I pulled my motor out often. Cool man. Thanks

What is that electrical plug coming from the back of the motor going to center rear of the hull? Just curious?

Sent from my iPhone using SoCal Jet Boats
the wiring on my boat goes from the gauges back to this female 9 way plug and they put a male plug from that to my junction box thats mounted on the motor.it was thay way when i bought it. Its cool / easy but kinda hokey at the same time..

It will look like this and you have to get a hub to match the bolt pattern of the steering wheel
ok cool thanks. Sorry for it was a newb question. First boat still learning everything haha

So i got my steering wheel off finally. All thats used is a 3/4 tapered bolt with a keyway. Now to order my new wheel. What hub would i need? My current wheel didnt have any hub at all it was just a plastic cover behind the wheel.

You will need to figure out how many bolts your current setup uses to mount the wheel and the go to cp performance or Rex marine and get a hub to mount the wheel.

i dont believe i see any bolts. It looks like its just pressed onto a 3/4 tapered shaft as i need to get a steering wheel puller to get it off.

Can't miss with a little flat black... Looks great.

Did you use locking hardware on the exhaust? I would recommend it...

GT

Looks good! Like GT said can't go wrong with a lil flat black. 👍

"RTCP"
thanks guys. I dig the flat black. I like polished/chrome but i dont like the maintenence of keeping it looking nice haha. And yes i did use some locking hardware after my last time out blowing an exhaust gasket.

@ka0tyk oh ok sounds easy enough. Yea i will be doing this within the next week or 2. Thanks for the help!

I know the boat is late 60's early 70's due to no hin stamped on the hull. It hasnt been registered since 01. I got a bill of sale from the person i bought it from but since hes was not the last regisered owner im not sure if it would even help. I got it real cheap so i wasnt to concerned about it but now im looking to get registration up to date before summer.

Im new to scjb so sorry of im a newb haha this is my first boat. I got this boat about 2months ago for 800. Didnt get any paper work with it. Ive been trying to get it ready for summer ive replaced the flooring and am in the process of putting carpet and having new upholstery done.. Ive typed in the cf number into the dmv system and nothing shows up i know it hasnt been registered since 01. And i also know their is no H.I.N stamped on the transom i so i assume its older then 73 which i think is when they started being required to stamp all boats. It has a stock 455 olds , jacuzzi pump which ive been told suck. Hardin marine gauges. Holley 750 carb 20-30 gallon bow tank. Compression is 150 all across both sides.
