Now that i have a boat that runs and will run even better when dialed in.. I want to thank  the people who have helped make this happen ;)

First i have to thank Omar (Beerjet).......Thanks for bringing me the Heartbeat of my new boat , and sending me care packages to go along with it and get it together... along with some shared pm's giving me info on what to do..

Omar.....I love you man  :-*

Another member i am in debt to is Elwood (429heads) without him , my engine would probably still be sitting on a stand.. Elwood has helped me time and time again and this time we did it.. Now i have a new set of heads with SS valves. Thank you for your time and stories i enjoyed every bit of it....

Ralph Brunt.. I want to thank you for donating parts for my build, every little bit helps and you helped a bunch.. from our phone conversations to our pm's.. Thank you!

Brad , for not banning me for the last year maybe two years of confusion  O0

Crewchief22 for all the info and offering to rebuild my carb .. Thank you.......

Pw_Tony thank you for everything you have  done to help out, much appreciated ;)

Now we have Propless , you always get me back into the game when im ready to say F-it.... I look up to you for that ;)

Now i could make another 40 page thread of thank you's to everybody , but you already know who you are...

(Lucky Stiff ;) you started all this) , HDriderTH , 1980Nordic , Forkedup , Boost , Glasscutter , GT jets , OC2Vegas ,  76Nordic  dizzy in back ;D  , Ryan Brindle , 82daytona , Flytime , Gofastracer , Moneypit , Jim Rich , obnoxious001 , So.Bay*310* , IRRebel , Jetboatperformance has helped me out A TON ;)
Everybody here has either been hands on with the build or giving out sound advice/info
Now i know im missing some peeps , but i just want to say thank you to all SoCalJetboats members.......

We fukin did it 8)

If it has a COMP cam in it, it might be a good idea to put their cam additive at oil change.  Thats what I da as per COMP's instructions.

Its got a Clay Smith cam thats well broken in ;D

So im here wiating for UPS to show up , what should i be looking for before i start her up.... as soon as i get my dizzy shim kit and oil primer i think im gonna give it a try ??? TODAY ;D

Lets see , i have oil in her , dizzy is wired , everything is hooked up  ???

Well saturday is the big day ( i think ) now since this motor has already been broken in thanks to Omar :-*  ;D should i add any additives to the oil. What im doing is running it for 20 minutes to get it to op temp and then flushing the oil out to add the good stuff. Valvoline VR1 20-50

Im using Rotella 15-40 to flush  with  ;)

I had to order a oil priming tool and dizzy shim kit so that should be here tomorrow i hope.. I think i have it all ready to go ???

Engines / Engine Parts For Sale / Re: BBC top mount starter
« on: April 15, 2009, 11:59:45 AM »
got it, so - either way for this top mount starter to work, it appears that I need a differently flywheel. not gonna happen.

Got any reccomendations on a nice bottom mount starter?

I can't count how many people i talked to that said  , oh ya it will work fine. I never even tried it , i put the same set up on the Eliminator and it work about 4 times then said no more. I then put bottom mount starters on both boats and the Eliminator starts like a dream im sure mine will too.

Only one person knew what i was doing and told me after i had done it that i needed a reverse ring gear flexplate in order for it to be correct. I said the same thing......NOT GONNA HAPPEN.

So here i am losing my ass again cause i didnt know any better and nobody to blame but myself :sly:

My brain
Autozone bottom mount = $45

My brain on drugs.
Top mount =$250   Any questions  :D

Engine Mechanical / Electrical / Re: Too much , too little
« on: April 14, 2009, 06:54:48 PM »
Sounds to me like you MIGHT need to go up about 10 jet sizes...you might be able to get away with 9 1/2 though.  lol jk ;D ;D

Nordic...been hangin' out on Performance Boats a lot. Gettin' ready to start my new build.

Gonna take them down a few sizes although annular carbs take more fuel and flow less air i should try it the way it was ran ;D

454 with 049's Dart intake Holley 850 annular carb jetted at 91 prim and 94 sec.

this was run on a 460 BBC with great results. I hope i have the same results  :sly:

Well if it lights you should be good... Are you runnig a Aux. soloniod like the diagram shows?? If so then it has to be grounded to complete the circiut...

Yes i am, but the other one in the eliminator isnt grounded ... Its grounded to the engine mount. i can go try it ???

A little confused here... which is not hard to do. ;D
When you turn the key do you get 12 volts at the start terminal??

Not sure about the 12 volts but my test light does light up when i switch the key to on and turns off when key is off

Engine Mechanical / Electrical / Re: Bad soleniod ??????

Like i said if i jump from the battery side of the solenoid to the starter wire on the other side of the solenoid the starter kicks.

I have it wired as the 1 wire alt with HEI ignition here. Except where it says to ground the soleniod i didnt.
http://www.socaljetboats.com/index.php?topic=2326.0

I wired the Eliminator the same way and it works fine ??? My ground comes off the battery straight to the rear engine mount with a bolt going into the block to fasten it tight

Engine Mechanical / Electrical / Bad soleniod ??????
« on: April 14, 2009, 04:34:44 PM »
Ok i got everything wired, got no oil in the engine but wanted to check it out. Just wanted to hear the starter kick thats it!!!!

I got nothing, i have power where it should be so i started to check the wires. Im getting the start signal to the soleniod but its not working, now if i jump from the batt side to the start wire. It kicks...

So im guessing bad solenoid??

I have a new one in my shopping basket from jeggs but before i buy it i would like a second opinion ???

Anyone :sly:
