Thanks guys, I just hope this thing works this time.

Steve, I have enough projects around here to last a couple seasons (at least).  The Daytona is next, just still haven't decided what to do with it.  :-\

Well boys, Its all back together now.  Except for the loader (ironman is coming over to help me get it mounted).  It will be back on the water next Sunday for some carb tunning and some top speed runs .  Big thanks to Tom and Josh (JBP) for walking me through the pump work, hopefully I did it right.  As well as Busby, GTjets, and SnoC653 for attempting to explain how this crazy hull should work, and hopefull what it wanted.

Keep yor fingers crossed for me guys, its all or nothing time.  I'm bringing the plates up and I'm going to let this thing set back and fly this time.  >:D

Changes include, one very worked JG bowl, a Berk droop (also worked to match the bowl), a new A impeller, a shouldered wear ring, 750 vac sec carbs replaced with a set of 660s, and the heads were repaired.  Also had to replace the for/rev and diverter cables (to short), and add a steering extention.  I also drilled and tapped the suction housing for some temperary pressure gauges.  So I can see whats going on in there this time.

Jet Pumps / Re: what impeller do i have?
« on: May 24, 2009, 01:42:31 PM »
If there's nothing on the tag that says -A-, -B- etc, they might have a different way of identifying there impellers (if they had more than one).    The impeller (if its like most others) would / should have a letter stamped on the back of it that says what it is.  But you would have to remove the bowl to see it, if its there.

Well she is 100% ready for testing... I finished installing the new rack & pinion this am ;D

Probably put her in the drink tomorrow, or maybe later today :sly:

Say it isn't so.  Your 100% done ???  This just cant be true.  Are you sure you don't want to take it back a part to resand the bilge or something ?  You did install the new loader bearing, right ?  And are you sure the steering turns the proper way, some folks around here have issues with that, so I hear.   >:D

JK, Steve.   Good luck getting it wet, and take lots of pics !!!!

« on: May 24, 2009, 12:25:31 PM »

PS - Buena Vista is 87* today, too bad it's four hours away.  I'm jealous!  Proppy, I take it you didn't make it out this weekend?

Nope, didn't make it out.  >:(  The new to me 660s are not happy, and I forgot I don't have a steering extension.  :banghead:  Maybe next weekend if I can get the carbs to cooperate.

You pisc are very motivating.  I love days like that, find a secluded spot and just float around and enjoy the peace and quite for a bit (with some good company).  ;D ;D   Looks like perfect day !!

ok, put the pump back together...

you dont need no stinkin bearing buddy!  ;D  ...go to west marine, outdoor world...any RV supply place...they got them.

how bad are the flats? slow leaks? get yourself a can of fixaflat....better yet....take them down to your local tire place and have them float them in a bucket of water....could be something as simple as a bad stem.

and fenders can be mounted in an evening....

do i need to bust out the SCJB pom poms too?  ;D

Easy there big guy, no need to get all dressed up like a cheerleader.  Your going to get Omar all excited (again)  :o  ;D

 I'll try to make it.

what boat? the elim sprint?

Yea, The motors back in it, just need to finish putting the pump back together.  But the trailer has some issues.  One of the bearing buddys flew off somewhere, it has 2 flat tires and the fenders still aren't mounted.  :banghead:

zacho,
I think I understand what your saying (even without pics).  Your transom plates are running over the top of the clean out cover, right ?   Ive seen pics of a few guys that made a curved piece for the transom plates that goes around the inside of the clean out (kinda like half a can). That way the cover can still be removed.  I think this is a common issue with the gullwing boats.

Here's a link to some pics of Squirtchas's boat to see what I'm talking about.
