I don't either, but am REQUIRED to. Mine are in the Safe Deposit box with my titles, life insurance, etc. Had "discussion" with a few lake cops about it, they understood. Here's why.

Arizona does NOT title watercraft. To sell one, all you do is sign off on the back of the Reg Slip, new owner goes to the Fish and Game, no questions, don't even have to have the boat there, gets a new reg slip in their name, or the one they give. Hell I transferred 5 boats one time and they never even asked me for an ID.

sooooooo..........I'm required to keep IN MY BOAT AT ALL TIMES, the ONE piece of paper that proves I own it.........so if it's stolen, and that piece of paper is IN THE BOAT as they require.........well, you see my point!

Anyway, THAT'S the law. At BR, you're in AZ, technically, even though a Cali address, and a good portion of the river we run is in Cali.

Seems to me I've had this before. If I remember right, they are DIP switches, and on an 8 cylinder engine, leave them all closed except #2. Could be labeled on/off or open /closed..............

You can get those at Spanky's in Parker if ya need Gord. Actually, I'll check, I might have a couple spares.

Regs require a lifevest for every passeneger, the throwable, a noise maker (Whistle or air horn), a class B fire extinguisher, your registration card, and what am I forgetting guys? Been in the sun all day so brain cells are cooked more than normal......... :sly:

In addition, I carry a spare coil, if you use a ballast resister, carry one of those, A couple extra LONG spark plug wires

Given my last two river trips, I'm considering buying and carrying a  trolling motor........... :banghead:

If it starts, runs and idle ok, go give it a good hard run and check yer plugs.......they will tell you a LOT Gord!

I find it hard to beleive you can't get a Holley to dial in.......Just me......

What do you guys normally run for timing on a 460 like mine?

Mechanically? 8*-10* BTDC seems to be the sweet spot, my experience,initially setting it up. Now there's MANY opinions about where the curve comes in and at what RPM, but I've had good luck at full advance coming in around 2500 or so at 30*-32*. I only run mechanicals. Others will have other opinions I'm sure, but that's been where I been at. A LOT depends on yer ignition and abiility to deliver on those parameters. This is why I don't like MSD, but I'll save that for another discusssion. Dealing with a Chebbie now that doesn't like 30*  at 2500.......about to beat it to death with a stick.........

But on a 460, I've set them up with nothing more than 10* BTDC and an eyeball, and the timing light, and performance told me it was dead balls on. Chebbies are Sooooooo timing finicky...........

Random Boat Parts For Sale / OT transom pipes.......F/S

Trying to replace Pickles OT pipes, I got a little over zealoous........ :banghead: Ended up with a damn near brand new set that Harry (Howard19) delivered to BR (Bro, I owe ya so much!). so got some to get rid of. I will never use them again, so someone needs these to complete a Pickle-like project!

I know at least one person was interested in the original Gil's off the boat, welded twice, I would personally have them checked again and the port side ground flat as it "rainbird's" a little, but I beat it pretty hard this past weekend and the welds hold up.......I'll get pics later once they're off.......in the middle of a jet pump install right now waiting on the 'poxy to kick a bit before dealing with the cable fiasco on another boat. But they're good pipes, for the right person with the welding skills to make sure they're right.

How's 50 bucks and you guys bribe me from there? Remember, these things are ONLY made by Rewarder these days and are $600..........Last weld job on these in Vegas cost me 150........and a DAMN good job the kid did!

AND, then I bought this other set, complete with logs....... Dunno what brand, but are identical to the Gil's from the original boat.



THESE ones, are VERY nice! Woulda worked Very Well had I not scored the new ones In the meantime. Make me an offer, with or without the Nicson logs.................No fitty bux is NOT gonna score these.........

I just went through the same thing on my Chevy. Starter solenoid was a huge part of the culprit, as was the timing as Nordie indicated.........

My HIN has been checked once by game and fish, no HIN could be an issue/hassle, insurance likes them on there too.

I've never seen them check that.....just the Reg numbers.......Same as I've never had a cop check the VIN on a car. If the pates are ok, you're ok. If they issued you your Reg Numbers, put 'em on and run it.
