 That's exactly what I needed to see !!  I was just out in the garage looking at mine and I didn't think about the clean out hole, that would be a problem trying to do it at 2".  I'll go with the 1" spacing. 

 Is that 3rd line for bowl pressure ?

 BTW, didn't you use a pair of mec oil pres gauges on yours for this ? I ask because I have a couple extras I was thinking about useing.

 Bob, I think that thing is save able.  Just gut all that interior out of there, move the motor back about 4 foot, cut a couple holes in it for a jet, and you might want to section about a foot or so out of the depth of that thing.  Give Tom at JBP a call,  I've seen him save worse.   

You mean behind the impeller? They are suction housing/intake readings. Not that some peeps don't take bowl pres. readings too.

 No I meant in front of / ahead of the impeller, in the suction housing. I was thinking if it was to close to the impeller it might get some kind of weird readings (pulsing or swirling) as the impeller turned.

 This is a good topic.  I would like to tap my suction housing too.  I would think it would be better to tap it in 2 places (one high and one low) so you can try to balance the load on the impeller.   Anybody know the best places to do this ?

 Have to be on 2sav's side on this one (rare thing).  If you like the man or not, anyone's boat on the bottom is not something to have a good time with.   Especially when it got there trying to help a fellow boater.   

 Just a dumb thought, but are you 100% sure you hooked up the inlet and outlet right on the new pump (might be backwards from the old one). 

 If you find a base, Ive got a polished single 4 top for an Offy.

Cool , but how slow will it be OFF the trailer

 Brian, the motor is about 6 or so inches back from where you had it. Your right though, I might need to slide it back a bit more with my (modest) power.  Its going back together now and I'm going to try some of your other suggestions before moving the motor (it looks to good where it is  ).  I think I'm going to have some new decals made for it and name this thing  "Balancing Act" , or "teeter totter"  .

 Tom, (as you already know) I got the impellers, and other parts.  Thanks for the "hook up".


 Its on its way back together,
 Motor is back together and in the boat again.  The water issue was leaky intake gaskets (again) probably from the old boat.  And a pin sized hole in the wall of the #4 exhaust port (injecting water into the port), Some idiot got a bit to excited porting the heads (me  ) but all is well now.


 I added a water bypass valve (just in case) this time.


 I also picked up a new impeller and a split bowl (with some secret work done  ).  Now I can try some of Busbys set up suggestions on this little bit## and see if I can make it happy again.  Happy happy joy joy, now I get to polish another bowl  .

 Also, From what I've been told you should never run one of those things without water, at all.  It will instantly start tearing up the impeller.  Just get one of those clampy things that go over the drive and hook to a hose, there cheap.
