The No Wake Zone / Re: Got Hitched
« on: December 09, 2008, 11:12:12 AM »
Thanks Guys,

I'm going to just freshen it up this year (rings, bearings, ported heads, cam, lifters, springs) then I will break down and stroke it to 521-557ci maybe even spring for some Blue Thunder heads....then a blower....okay now I'm dreaming again lol. She is all for it (even wants me to put zoomie headers on), but has one requirement before I do the bigger motor. I got to buy her a deck boat or pontoon so she has mobile island for the kids and grandkids.

The No Wake Zone / Got Hitched
« on: December 04, 2008, 03:09:43 PM »
My Girlfriend of 2 years Sue and I got married yesterday. Small ceremony. Had the perfect day afterward. Went to the range and popped off 100 rounds of 9mm in my pistol, then on to dinner at Johnny Carino's Italian Restaurant, and finally to Parrish's Bar and Grill to sing Karaoke. Then home to wrap things up. Now got to save up freshen up the boat for next season.
Sam

ps. I know she was the was the one, when she told me we need to put a bigger cam in the boat!!! ;D

Grew up with a 78 28' Hawaian Daycruiser 454 Berk, and it would do 55 with all our gear and 3 adults. Our record from Long Beach to Catalina in fair seas was just under 30 minutes.

Cars / Automobiles For Sale / 69 Firebird
« on: November 26, 2008, 02:39:56 PM »
I had a buyer but I haven't heard from him in over a week so I will give you guys a shot.
69 Firebird Project car. Rust bucket, pos, bondo beast, whatever you wanna call it. It would make a fun hot rod. Body needs lots of tlc & front clip, but it has pontiac 350/th350 not running. Original A/C car, but fiberglass housing in engine compartment is broke and missing parts. I was thinking of vintage air kit when I bought it. front and rear glass broke out, but side glass seems ok. Car is floor shift so easy to convert to manual trans if you're looking to go that way. has 4 wheel manual drum brakes. Factory trim codes Expresso Brown exterior with Parchment interior and vinyl top. paint is long gone as is interior and vinyl top. I've seen cars similar condition go for more than a $1000 without engine or trans. Asking $850 or consider trades.

Used to go to Downey Animal Hospital. They had a great service they offered for regular customers. They would cremate your pet so you could put they're ashes somewhere special or they would spread the ashes in they're rose garden if you wanted.  I thought it was pretty cool.

I dig ink, still haven't gotten any done yet. Found a bad ass Air Force Eagle tat I want and also plan to get matching Celtic hearts done with my fiance. But the hand one makes me think of something funny. I always wanted to get "F### you, Pay Me" from the movie Goodfellas done on my palm!!! Joe Pesci was too funny in that movie!

The No Wake Zone / Re: RANT WARNING! Ford Dealership
« on: November 21, 2008, 09:33:55 AM »
Having worked for several dealerships and running a brake specialist shop. I can tell you that $115 for labor is about the average depending on where you're at. Remember that the mechanic, that parts guy, the service writer, the parts manager, and the service manager (& assistant if they have one) all make a commission off of that $200+ bill. Most techs get paid an hourly rate of "book time" if they do it faster they make more money. If they do it slower, they lose money. Not to mention they own their soul to the SnapOn or Mac tools guy. The parts department marks up parts by up to 300%. But some things are reasonably priced if they have a lot of competition in the area. That said, yes you can do it yourself with redline, amsoil, or royal purple and saved at least half. But what is your time worth. Jacking it up, crawling back out to the tool box at least twice, getting diff oil all over your hands (and that smell if horrible and takes forever to fade lol), cleaning the surfaces before you put sealer on em, and cleaning everything including the drops of oil on the driveway. If the dealer does it and it leaks again, they fix it for free. If you do it no such luck. I personally do most of my own stuff, but I don't change fluids on my truck or car. It's too easy and cheap to have someone else do it. Just my $.02

WarZone / Crazy Day
« on: October 04, 2008, 05:57:00 PM »
Went to the river today, had a blast but what a crazy day. First Marc and I headed back to Fisher's to pick up the bilge pump he got for me. I forget to turn on the header water and blue the crap outta the headers I just installed. Got the bilge pump in and then the boat didn't want to crank over. Cranked really slow, but on second try fired right up. Need a new starter (it's been submerged a couple of times lol). On the way back, we were cruising along staying close to the tullies and the wake boat is coming towards us. I signal that I'm staying to my right against the tullies. As we get closer he comes closer and closer to me squeezing me closer to the tullies as I pass I see his wake is massive so I back off and his wake tosses me straight towards the tullies. Marc is getting whipped so I crank the wheel hard left and stomp on it which saves us but I can hear that I sucked up massive amounts of reeds & grass. We limp up to a sand bar and Marc jumps out and pulls out a dozen wads of grass and reeds. I got a ton of reeds in the right side of the boat. We fire up with no problems and get back to the sand bar where everybody was wondering what happened. We show them all the reeds. All is good till we packed up and were on the way back and I ran out of gas. No biggie, switch tanks and we should be good to go. You guessed it, it doesn't want to crank over. Wait about 5 and it cranks right up and we're on our way. No more problems. I get home start unpacking and as I'm walking around the boat I realize the driver's side muffler blew out. It's at the bottom of the river somewhere. Anyway, the weather was really nice. Overcast with cool breeze, water was perfect. And there where a lot of really fast boats at the sandbar and they were doing some racing. It was a pretty cool time!!!

The No Wake Zone / Minor scare
« on: October 02, 2008, 05:06:31 PM »
Had a minor scare this a.m. when I was prepping Friction Addiction for this weekend. Boat fired and ran for about 20 seconds then died & wouldn't restart. After checking everything, pulled off scoop and mass quantities of gas were dumping from float vents and through venturis. Couple of love taps with the BFH (big f'ing hammer) and she was running in no time. Needle & seat in secondary was stuck. Hooked up water and ran her for about 10 mins (driveline was already disconnected, I knew you were thinking it lol). The headers I got from 76 Bonneville sound good and look better than my old ones. I had to bend up the water lines to make em fit lol. Just got to retorque header bolts when she cools down and then wash her on saturday morning before we head out. Got to remember to hook up water line from pump and driveline too lol.

We'll be 2nd sandbar from Martinez Saturday. C ya there!!! ;D

FYI,
Got engaged to Sue my gf of over 2 years. We are having a very laid back ceremony Valentine's day next year at "The Names" in Picacho State Park at sunset. All of you are welcome. Attire will be jeans and tee/sweatshirts. We will camp there overnight so bring your off road toys!!! Lots of cool trails to explore.

I'm fortunate to have a job still. Waiting for the state to go bankrupt. So far gas is killin me most. I drive 83 miles each way to work. Luckily I can drive my fiancee's Toyota that gets 26mpg, if I had to drive my truck 13mpg I'd be screwed!!!
Crime rates are up so at least I have job security in that aspect.
