When i got my Bahner either it had a tiller arm , or it is the one Skip picked up for me that was ground back a bit........

I noticed that the nozzle went way up and if it ever would have got wet, it would of thrown some killer roost

Nope, you can use 1/2" plywood (plenty strong IMO) and use the 3/4"X2" fir strip at the top of the plywood to mate to the deck, otherwise there is too many pressure points on the bottom surface of the deck and would promote stress cracks, I will try to snap a couple of pictures, which is something I am terrible about, I always say when done with a project, "gee I wish I would have taken some pics of that" (sounds like a 50's sit com  ).

Anyway, basically just like the Bahners had there deck supports in the 80's, super strong..

i did this in my Bahner, except i went a little extreme. I used 3/4" plywood 12"x12" glassed to the deck and 2x4's glassed to the plywood and through bolted the stringers..... I had to because off the dropped bow and it made it super strong and brought it back up to par.. i could have parked a truck on the bow after that ..(mini truck of course )

I will do the same on my Carribean, except the 2x4's   

i am sorry sav you are a good man for helping him out......however, if all you are doing for him is upgrading his already running boat, that you made run for him, i would have told him to take a number, nothing is being done until you finally get to run your boat, you already put your shit on hold for him how many times?  if he is any kind of man. friend, relative whatever he would completely understand.

i would prop it back up the way its supposed to be and make sure you glass it in solid or else your deck will flap like a fat ladies ass when you get in the rough water.

In the Bahner the bulkhead broke loose and eventually ended up breaking the center bow support which let the bow drop down ALOT

they raced it that way for who knows how long  that was the first thing i had to repair......Get some support back in there

so this boat is turning out to be MUCH more of a project then I ever wanted it to be. Every corner I turned, every angel and perspective I took...the more i dug into it....it rendered MORE and MORE work this boat needs.

I am running late to work. I will post pics/explination later this evening.

#1. sell it for what you payed or a lil more
#2. make it another project 
#3. or just run it and fix the little stuff later

The heavy duty u joints dont have them because it makes them weaker.  At least thats what I read in a 4x4 mag.

I used to own a 1984 Toyota 4X4 with a turbocharged Celica motor in it (it made like 290 HP at 14 PSI boost), had a five speed trans. and 4.56 gears with 35"  BFG Mud Terrains, one day I was driving home for lunch and was doing like 40MPH and the nose of the driveline blew off the tailshaft of the trans., it hit the ground so hard it actually broke the frame at the leaf spring perches and lifted the truck about a foot and a half off the ground and filled a perfectly good pair of undershorts 

After that I actually became pretty religious about driveline maintenance, it never happened to me again and I always had a driveline hoop on my 4 wheel drive trucks...
