Ray, no disrespect brother, but the bowl bearings on a Berkeley are completely surrounded by water....No way in hell you could feel that heat in the bowl, no friggen way..

What you felt was water from the engine....Seen it a thousand times before....

GT

Oh I know, I was just thinking maybe, just maybe, his pump was pretty damn tight and he wasn't running it long and hard enough to get the grease to liquify and maybe that's what he was feeling.

Just a thought,

O I C...Thanks Ray...Never played with one of the scoops before...I'm not even sure if I have ever seen one up close now that i think about it.

Makes sense.   On the dual Dooley scoops you literally have to fit your hands between the top of the scoop and the arrestor, my daughters hands used to be perfect, now she's all growed up... :-\

GT

LOL I'm playng with one of those old Dooleys as we speak.......Becca's back east.....can't find a neighborhood kid with small hands......yet.........Gonna try making Ice Cream truck noises in a minute....... :sly:

the guy who had the boat before me had grease in it,when i got the boat i checked the bowl fluid by pumping 90wt into the bowl thats how i found he ran grease in it

I think you mighta answered your own question. Nothing wrong with grease in a bowl, nor 90 wgt, BUT the two will never mix or be a good thing at all. Also, is this after a long hard run? I mean like a couple of hours of constant running or just after normal short runs?

Could be a problem there, you running grease or 90W in the bowl?

Sweet ride!

I have a question though....How did you get the rear flame arrestor on the rear carb? Looks sweet.

GT

Been there and done that Glenn! That scoop has a tray, so you mount it WITH the air cleaners   (Arrestors if the po-po is watchin this...... :sly:), then the scoop bolts to the tray.

Now my Crower unit.........well, a little more complicated.........and not so much Po-Po friendly........ :sly:

Beautiful boat BTW! You even got the right deck ornaments in place!

Funny you asked...Powell! Lol ;D The only time I get to see my parents are once a year when I meet them at Powell. My dad is a prop guy (don't attack, I give him enough shit) he has a 35 ft bayliner that we stay on for 8 days. It's really nice! Last year my grandparents brought their boat down also. That almost never happens though. It was a very nice reunion. The year the pic was taken was when I drove up to Bullfrog to launch. Sucks but that is where my Dad keeps his boat and if I break it's a fail safe. The year before I drove up to Dangling Rope from Wahweap to meet him. Nice drive but you have to leave early! (like 0530) Gotta get on the lake before them dang tour boats. You'll use a tank getting there and it takes about an hour. I noticed alot of jet guys cruise at over 4 g's but I found that if I cruise at 3200 it stays planed and gets decent gas. Gotta conserve considering gas is way over $5 a gallon. Anyways, I grew up on that lake. By far my favorite and if you haven't been you need to go!! Get some friends together and rent a house boat for a week. Great fun!! Already have plans to go next year, if my deployments don't screw me. Send me a pm if you are interested. Maybe we could pitch in for a house boat? I'll post it in events this winter when I know more details about what the Corps is going to do with me. I believe Nick and Mike are already on board! We'll be launching from Bullfrog. Let me know.

I'd be down for that! Been threatening to terrorize Powell for some time now....... :sly:

What they're sayin is, go back over all your hard work and make SURE you didn't break a wire, or a connection. Pretty easy to eliminate or break a ground point. Done it myself. Yes, I have yet to see a boat that doesn't have all the gounds tied to one going to the engine block or battery. They are daisy chained all together so if ALL of them are failing and werent before, look closely at where you been and go from there....... ;)

Interior / Re: need info on interior
« on: June 09, 2011, 07:07:13 PM »
Got my swim steps used and painted to match....My whole interior ran about 700-800 in material.  I built it and the girlfriend sewed it.  If you just want the sides...how about an aluminum triangle frame from stringer to gunnel.  It would be flush to the top with a piece of 1/2 ply and you could install one gas shock and hinges on each side so they open sideways.  Would also hide anchors, beer cans and tampons.  And I sold the gay ass tower....I use a friends boat to wake.

Tampons??? Really? ewwwww!!!! Not goin into YOUR engine compartment!!!! come out looking like an axe murderer...... :screwy:

Interior / Re: need info on interior

Don't mind Marc.....He not only owns one of the hottest boats on here, but is uncomfortable in his new role as Poontoon boat Skipper!  >:D

He's young, but watch for a thread on "how to remodel a medicine cabinet to hold both enough Viagra AND dramamine" or "how to pay for a houseboat by making it a drop house for 25", OR, my favorite, "If the boat is a rockin', dont bother dockin."  >:D

On a serious note, seen many interiors that cost 5k, many that cost under 1k, and not a lot of difference.  To be honest, check around, use craigslist, friends, check the boat shops. I've seen home made interiors that  rock me, and 5k interiors that were like WTF??? Do your homework and find someone that will do WHAT you want and charge a reasonable price. I have no problem with at 2-3k interior if it's perfect and what I want! Moo's cost me $1200, just for reference.......
