Look at the how big that transom is?  I was checking out Droppys 21 Daytona with that 1.2 bizzilion cubic in Ferd and there was still enough transom to mount more crap on it. Hell, I can't even hardly see my transom and it's so full of SS lines, MSD boxes and misc dohickeys that I'm jealous. Boat is looking killer and yup, I'm thinking I'm sick of sanding and wanna spray soon...........

Nope, I only had to sand it smooth.   I got up early Sunday morning after letting it dry all night and then wet sanded it with some 400 grit. Really didnt take that long and I was spraying late that afternoon.

Okay, I'll spill the beans on the colors and layout. This was not easy and I sketched many different colors and styles but I kept coming back to how much I like the old days in drag racing and loving reading and hearing about Ronny Sox row that 4-speed in the Sox & Martins cars. All of those were painted Red White & Blue.




Then in the late 70's I was involved with a buddy on his ProGas Camaro and it to was painted Red White & Blue.  This was actually a 1970 car but we hung the the 78/79 (can't remember which) to make it look new. Nice car and that was the end of my racing days (kids, job, house, etc...)





So, here it is give or take. It's liable to change a bit but this is what I'm thinking. I may pull the swoop a bit further up and back (or I may not).

May not be for everyone but I think it'll look pretty cool. Obviously the trailer will be painted with some cool wheels and tires attached

Thanks Undone but you wouldnt have thought so last Saturday.  I washed it down, masked it off, tacked it once and went to my bag of white rags that I have to wipe some precleaner on. Unfortunately, I was out so I went and grabbed what I "thought" was a clean one. Wiped the boat down with that and then tacked it one more time.

Mixed up some 2K primer and started laying that on....... WTF

Everywhere I sprayed I could see the wipe marks from the cleaner. Must have not been as clean of a rag as I thought

What a stinking mess.  After I got done throwing tools, drinking all the beer I could find and bitching at anything I could think of I closed the door to the shop and walked away.

Got up the next morning and wet sanded it down smooth again, wiped it down with nice clean paper towels as recommended by a number of folks and sprayed on a new batch of 2K. Yahoo! smooth as a babys butt...  Let's hope that's as bad as it gets. I'm just thankful I made that mistake when I was just squirting primer and not the clear coat...

This is just horrible. Though neither Jan or I are very religious people, please know that each of you are in our thoughts. Hope all of you, your families and friends are safe.

  I was scuffin the epoxy sealer down to get ready to spray some 2K primer when I caught out of the corner of my eye what looked like a crack!

Ground it down and found what almost looked like an air bubble in the glass.



Layed it back and wiped it down good with some acetone. Damn I hate that stuff. It'll find any knick, cut and sratch in your hands and burnt he crap out of you. I guess I could wear gloves but that might get in the way of my beer drinking.

Did a Wet Out with some West Systems epoxy and then followed up with some strands of glass buried in another coat of West Systems.

Scuffed that down and it' looks good now. Hope it never comes back.......









Gonna squirt some DP48LF to seal it off and then I'll lay some 2K primer over everything to start to blocking......stay tuned.

Yup, the bottom is done and setting on the cart with some super soft carpet to cushion.

Here it is with the DP48LF as a sealer. Next stop is some Rage Gold to smooth it out and then lots of 2K primer to make it puuuurdy.








Gonna let it cook for a few days and then start smoothing it out.

As long as were talkin ancient electronics, I always wanted to hook an NES up to an LCD monitor in my silverado, always made me laugh thinkin about an 8 bit system playn on a hi res screen and mono sound through 2000 watts, but I never got around to it.  I'll still put my NES up aganst those PS(whatever the hell the number is this month). now back to the tahiti

Josh, take that NES crap back home. I remember Jan and I standing outside the Pennys downtown in the rain/snow just before Xmas (pre-mall era) to get this double throwdown, blow-ur-skirt up new thing called ATARI.
It came with a game called Pong! I ruled with that.  Of course, that was the last game I could make work. We now have Xbox and Jan and the kids got me NASCAR. All I can do is crash and take everybody out.........

We dodged a big storm today. Looking at the satilite (sp?) we would have gotten our butts handed to us. They were talking heavy rains and 70mph winds. Thankfully it stalled off the coast and is headed toward Northern BC/Southern Alaska

Bottom is done Greg. But don't know what if anything I'll get done this weekend other than maybe getting flipped upright.

Here's the latest with the speedcoat. The weather isn't quite good enough for me to risk it outside so hopefully this'll do. Besides, its time for Monday night football...



By the way, this stuff is NASTY......yuk. Definately gotta have respirators and crappy clothes
