Engines / Engine Parts For Sale / Looking for a 454 block. Marine Power Gen VI shit the bed, block cracked.

Looking for a 454 block.  Will be replacing a Marine Power from a Commander 2100LX.  Old engine was a gen vi, and I believe the heads are still good (will put them in the shop to verify).  Anyone have a good block or short block setup they are looking to sell?  Thanks.

        Cops don't dispatch repo men.  Banks do.  I used to drive a wrecker and all items (save for the tweakers who lived from their cars...who can count that?) were pretty well itemized.  I know, cuz I had a girlfriend jack a jacket from a car in our impound and guess what... She gave it back to keep me from strangling her a**, cuz we got jacked for it.  Not to say there aren't POS drivers that will jack the roaches outa yer ashtray, but mostly the companies are watched.  Repo man???  Whole different ballgame.

      While I don't have the seat time as some of these folks, I have been around boats all my life, and last year I "settled" for a Commander too.  While the manufacturer himself may or not be a little flaky, the boat has been awesome.  Absolutely turnkey, and handles excellent.  As some of the others said in their posts, it's mostly about how the boat has been treated.  If any care has been given to your Commander at all, you prolly got yourself a gem!  Enjoy.

Daytona,
         What kind of deal did you get on the color sand and buff.  I'm getting a few dry spots, and was wondering if that would cure the problem or will I have to get a new clear coat applied.  Not sure where you're located, but I'm in San Diego area.  If anyone knows about how much I'd be looking at price-wise, or a good shop in this area, chime in!

             I've been meaning to get up that way for a while now.  How is Pyramid?  Good ramps/access?  How much per day?  And also, is it all rocky or is there actually any beach area?  It's actually a couple of hours from me, but I'd definitely be willing to make the trip if it's a pretty nice lake!

Bob,  Thanks!  Just wondering why your neg cable was disconnected if your positives are switched.  Was this for something specific, or do you do that each time for storage?  I don't really see a nice place to put my switch outside the engine compartment (don't wanna run long cables from the helm console) because I don't think I have quite the clearance under my seats as you do.  Great install.

Damn, Marc... Just got caught up in some VRT/Supershops thread on another sight... sounds like it is gettin' nasty at some of the other web sites.  Is the supershops like the ones when we were younger?  Don't know the history between VRT and Supershops but it reads like a freakin' soap opera!  I'll have to stop buy and see what you guys have.

...also Hotrod, where do you get most of your parts from.  My buddy uses JP Marine, but I haven't really gotten deep into the boat yet.  I will be doing all my own work, just wonderin' who your parts hook up is

Hotrod, what part of the Cajon zone are you from?  Ever make it to El Cap on the weekends, or pretty much just the river?  Wanabe, yeah.. I looked at that thread.  I have a grasp on the electrical side of it, and I suppose I know about where I wanna route it, just wanted to see if I could get any ideas.  Thanks for the replies

Hey kids,
       Getting ready to install second battery and disconnect switch.  The threads were helpful, but who has those pics of their own sano installs??  Looking to see routing ideas, battery box layouts, switch locations, etc.  It never ceases to amaze me how clever and creative you guys are, so let's see 'em...

The last pic is pretty cool lookin' at us throw a roost, over my buddies engine... We think his boat is a Woodbridge, but it's got a nice 502 puttin' out about 650 h.p.  He just redid all his flooring, replaced his stringers, the whole nine yards.  It rocks along pretty damned good... yep, a pretty good day on Ol' El Cap!

Okay guys, went to the lake today.  I think I got the right boat... perfect for the ol' lady to cruise in right now, just enough for me to tool on, and something to totally roach once I blow the first engine!  Actually, I couldn't be happier for now, it's turn key as hell!  How long will it take for that to get boring, though, that's the question!  ha ha

No pics yet, hopefully next weekend.  Thanks for the responses.  Question, does anyone know where to find electronic owner's manuals for the Marinepower 454?  I'm especially curious about the exhaust/cooling, as I'm just working off of my own tracing tracing of the hoses and what I've picked up on this site (you guys rule...).  Also, I don't see many later model or open bow jet boats in the readers rides... what gives?  I know they're all over the place!

Hey folks,
   New to the board and just got my first jet.  Commander 21 footer with a MarinePower 454.  Beautiful boat, and in one trip I was pretty happy with it.  Problem is, I can't find much literature about the MarinePower engine, and NOTHING on Commander Boats.  I actually went to their "showroom" in Perris today... pretty sleepy little venue to say the least.  Anyone familiar with the boat or it's engine?  Dont bombard me with how much it sucks, guys, I already bought it!  BTW, great threads here, I know I'm gonna learn alot!
